The power system stabilizer (PSS) is used to generate supplementary control signals for the excitation system in order to dampen low frequency oscillations. This paper presents an approach to designing a hybrid power system stabilizer (HPSS), which is a parallel combination of a conventional PSS and a nonlinear control system, to enhance transient stability for multimachine power systems. The effectiveness and applicability of the proposed approach are examined using a standard multimachine power system. The nonlinear system simulation results show that the HPSS is more effective than the conventional PSS in damping oscillations.

This paper presents techniques which base on the concept of flows thinning together with the identification techniques. These methods are proposed to determine the expected number of failures to assess the efficiency of technical diagnostics of instruments. Additionally, this research focuses on the improvement of multi-machine troubleshooting systems, based on the ‘AND-OR’ graphs. Respective algorithms are presented. The majority principle uses the input information to check the correctness of the decision regarding identification of faulty machines. In this paper we base on the complete testing algorithm for elements of multi-computer complexes searching by criteria of failed element.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę wyznaczania zbiorów rozwiązań Pareto optymalnych (zbiorów kompromisów) – wartości parametrów stabilizatorów systemowych PSS3B pracujących w wielomaszynowym systemie elektroenergetycznym - przy optymalizacji różnych wielowymiarowych kryteriów. Te kryteria są określone dla konkretnych zakłóceń biorąc pod uwagę przebiegi nieustalone mocy chwilowej, prędkości kątowej i napięcia zaciskowego generatorów w jednym wybranym zespole wytwórczym lub we wszystkich zespołach analizowanego systemu.

The paper presents a method for determining sets of Pareto optimal solutions (compromise sets) - parameter values of PSS3B system stabilizers working in a multi-machine power system - when optimising different multidimensional criteria. These criteria are determined for concrete disturbances when taking into account transient waveforms of the instantaneous power, angular speed and terminal voltage of generators in one, chosen generating unit or in all units of the system analysed.

Modem microprocessor capabilities permit the control designer to consider using relatively complicated nonlinear control algorithms, which would have been considered impractical in the past. In the paper inverse control and variable structure control are applied to the design of excitation and governor controllers using state variable feedback. The paper presents the results of a study of the two non-linear techniques for the design of excitation and governor controllers for a multi-machine power system. Control laws for rotor angle and field flux are derived. The closed loop system is shown to be asymptotically stable. The system can be transferred to a new operating condition corresponding to any desired terminal voltage V/sub t/ and tie-line power P/sub tie/.
