In literature concerning quality management systems a lot of attention was paid to the broader issue of their effectiveness and assessment of their functioning. There is lack of analyses concerning motivation of the organization to implement certified quality management systems, especially evidence-based analysis. This paper presents results of research concerning motivation of organizations in the scope of implementing quality management systems in Poland. The results were matched with the global research, in which authors determine reasons for implementing systems, as well as analyse their influence on the effectiveness of organization functioning. The objective of the research is to identify factors affecting the implementation of Quality Management Systems in Polish conditions and to determine whether such factors that prevail in our country are favorable or not, for the long-term effectiveness of their functioning.
