The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is widely used for reporting vessel movements and broadcasting additional information related to the current voyage or constant parameters like the IMO number or the overall dimension of the hull. Since dynamic AIS data is shared mostly without human interaction, and is not flawless, the static AIS content edited manually is vulnerable to human error. This work introduces a simple vessel motion pattern approach that determines the probable foredeck/afterdeck location of the GNSS reference used by the AIS transponder, and compares it to the hull parameters obtained from the static AIS data, to find observable errors in the static AIS configuration of the mount point of the GNSS reference antenna.

This study investigated the effects of age and sex on joint ranges of motion (ROMs) and motion patterns. Forty participants performed 18 motions using eight body segments at self-selected speeds. Older subjects showed smaller ROMs than younger subjects for 11 motions; the greatest difference in ROM was 44.9% for eversion/inversion of the foot. Older subjects also required more time than younger subjects to approach the peak angular velocity for six motions. In contrast, sex significantly affected ROMs but not motion patterns. Male subjects exhibited smaller ROMs than female subjects for four motions; the greatest sex-dependent difference in ROM was 29.7% for ulnar/radial deviation of the hand. The age and sex effects depended on the specific segments used and motions performed, possibly because of differences in anatomical structures and frequencies of use of the joints in habitual physical activities between the groups.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine the relationships between time of running over a 15–25 m section of a 30-meter run along a straight line and changes in the angle and angular velocity observed in ankle, knee and hip joints. Therefore, the authors attempted to answer the question of whether a technique of lower limbs movement during the phase of sprint maximum velocity significantly correlates with the time of running over this section. Methods: A group of 14 young people from the Lower Silesia Voivodeship Team participated in the experiment. A Fusion Smart Speed System was employed for running time measurements. The kinematic data were recorded using Noraxon MyoMotion system. Results: There were observed statistically significant relationships between sprint time over a section from 15 to 25 m and left hip rotation (positive) and between this time and left and right ankle joint dorsi-plantar flexion (negative). Conclusions: During the maximum velocity phase of a 30 m sprint, the effect of dorsi-plantar flexion performed in the whole range of motion was found to be beneficial. This can be attributed to the use of elastic energy released in the stride cycle. Further, hip rotation should be minimized, which makes the stride aligned more along a line of running (a straight line) instead of from side to side.
