In September 2009 the Polish Society of Bridge Engineers honoured the bridge of st. Kinga placed within Nowy and Stary Sącz bypass with the title of "The Bridge Project of the Year". The concept presents a 4 km long road section including a bridge over Dunajec River and a railway viaduct which is a part of a road link between Warsaw, through Radom, Koszyce, Brzesko, Piwniczna and border crossing in Mniszek and further to Slovakia and Budapest. This section has a major importance for the efficient functioning of the route as it allows the traffic to bypass the busy centre of Nowy Sącz. The most vital part of this new road is the bridge over Dunajec River which spans the village of Brzezna and Stary Sącz.
