Waste or additional costs in infrastructure projects such as jetty projects are often caused by rework. Besides having an impact on costs, rework is also a very significant contributor to waste or adding time which causes delays in the completion schedule of the project. A lot of research on rework has been carried out on both building and road construction projects, but there is no jetty construction project. This study aims to develop improvement scenarios to minimize the emergence of rework on pier infrastructure projects by modelling and simulating cost performance. The research variables were obtained based on the results of a literature study by asking for opinions from experts who are compatible in their scope. The initial model used the causal loop diagram form which was later developed into a Stock Flow Diagram, after which a repair simulation was carried out using the dynamic system method to determine the effect on cost performance. From the research results obtained 14 factors that affect the cost and time performance on the jetty project, the implementation of a dynamic system can provide the optimum solution with the ability to reduce the percentage of the number of reworks by 24.12% for 12 months.

Understanding the needs of ferry service commuters cannot be overemphasis, considering the fact that the survival of any business largely depends on the volume of its customer base, and how well they are satisfied with the level of services received. More so, owing to the high population of Lagos state and usual traffic congestion across main roads during the peak periods, water transportation via ferries undoubtedly becomes a viable alternative to ensure stakeholders satisfaction in urban planning for a city majorly surrounded by water providers. Thus, this study employs the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to prioritise the ferry services needs of commuters to make effective managerial decisions that will aid efficiency in their operations, thereby, increasing the market penetration, competitive edge and commuter satisfaction. A sample size of two hundred and four was computed through purposive sampling procedure. The data retrieved were analysed using pairwise comparison in line with AHP methodology. The study found out that among the criteria measured, comfort was perceived more important to commuters compared to its pairs. In addition, recreational facilities, ease of online payment, regular maintenance of waterways and seating with good legroom were ranked high by the commuters. Therefore, to ensure a sustainable competitive advantage over other modes of transportation, these indicators need to be effectively considered in water transportation policy.

In spite of the increasing importance of complex piers for bridges, the number of studies on these piers is comparatively small and the predictors of scour depth at complex piers are only a few, derived from limited experimental evidence. The main purpose of this paper is to share with the hydraulics community the results of 67 tests on scouring at pile-supported piers (including complex piers) aligned with the flow, under clear-water conditions close to the threshold of beginning of sediment motion, while contributing to shade some more light on the influence of the pile-cap thickness on the equilibrium scour depth, the reliability of the superposition approach, the contribution of each one of the complex pier components to the equilibrium scour depth of the ensemble, and the performance of existing predictors of local scour at complex piers.
