Modification of aqueous sodium silicate solutions with morphoactive agents

Sodium water glass was modified with morphoactive agents added to the process of autoclave dissolving of solid water glass in water or later, during evaporative concentration of sodium silicate solution. Water dispersions of organic polymers and copolymers were used as modifiers. Modified sodium silicate solutions with SiO2/ Na2O molar ratio of 2.0 were tested as binders of moulding sands hardened with ethylene glycol diacetate. The hardened samples were tested for their technological characteristics, as: compressive strength, bending strength, tensile strength, permeability and remainder strength (W$ after baking at 100-900°C and kinetic changes of W^ value with temperature. A good effect of the modifiers chosen on technological properties of sodium silicate solutions used as binders for foundry moulding sands was stated.
