Ważnymi zagadnieniami dla prawidłowego użytkowania wyrobów po modernizacji w warunkach podziemnego zakładu górniczego są zadania projektanta przy definiowaniu nowych funkcji dla maszyn i urządzeń oraz dobór środków technicznych, koniecznych do przeprowadzenia modernizacji. Ocena zgodności wyrobu z wymaganiami technicznymi oraz zgodne z prawem wprowadzenie wyrobu po modernizacji do użytkowania, służą zapewnieniu wymaganego poziomu bezpieczeństwa. Określenie zasad modernizacji maszyn i urządzeń wraz ze wskazaniem schematów postępowania stanowią wytyczne postępowania przy projektowaniu zmian, realizacji samego procesu modernizacji i – w konsekwencji – wdrażaniu maszyn i urządzeń po modernizacji do użytku w wyrobiskach zagrożonych wybuchem. Analiza przestawionych zasad modernizacji maszyn i urządzeń służy sformułowaniu ogólnych wytycznych modernizacji maszyn i urządzeń.

Design engineering of machines and equipment is a process which requires compliance with specific rules that are documented in technical designs. Upgrade projects are used to give products new characteristics and features. Compliance with technical requirements in upgrade of machines or equipment includes defining the additional functionalities that are desired to be implemented through upgrades. It is most critical to assess the potential negative impacts of upgrades on safety of use or their potential for generation of new hazards. In other cases, i.e. when the safety is assured at the same level as before upgrading or better, the modifications have no significant impact on upgraded products; hence compliance with minimum requirements is sufficient. The scope of modernisation of products intended for operation in explosion-hazard zones should be analysed and evaluated pursuant to the regulations of the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC. Risk assessment is an essential component of operation of machines and equipment in explosive atmospheres; whereas the scope of product upgrade (or modernisation) should meet the environmental conditions and consider the measures and methods of upgrade that prevent the modification from violating explosion-proof safety. This is confirmed by the standard harmonised with the Directive 94/4EC. Despite the freedom of discretion to use the standards, modernisation of machinery and equipment requires compliance with acknowledged technical regulations contained in those standards as a certain safeguard intended to prevent design flaws.

Artykuł przybliża kwestie związane z problematyką odkrywania zabytków przez Realizacja procesu modernizacji obejmuje zdefiniowanie nowych funkcji dla wyrobu, dobór środków technicznych, ocenę i analizę ryzyka po wprowadzeniu zmian i – w efekcie – ocenę wyrobu na zgodność z obowiązującymi wymaganiami. Stanowią one etapy tego procesu. Określenie zasad modernizacji maszyn i urządzeń wraz ze wskazaniem schematów postępowania stanowią wytyczne postępowania przy projektowaniu zmian i realizacji modernizacji.

The ongoing pursuit of occupational health and safety improvement, with the concurrent technical and technological progress, force periodical and permanent changes in regulations and technical standards. This, in turn, results in the manufacturers improving their products to constantly raise the level of safety in the workplace. The modernisation process, due to its impact on the user, requires the formulation of rules warranting the safety of the employee and the workplace to the employer. Machines and equipment modernisation algorithms are designed to provide such a warranty. The basis for these algorithms is a general modernisation procedure, which shows the ways available to the modernisers, depending on who they are in relation to the modernized product and what are the technical specifications of the product. The general modernisation roadmap presents appropriate paths for both manufacturers and clients, with an additional division to respond to the specificity of an underground mining plant. Separate algorithms dedicated to the manufacturer and the user will mirror the privileged position of the former in the modernisation process. The needs of the user, on the other hand, are usually typical signals that modernisation is needed, but its range must be limited if compared to the possibilities available for the manufacturer, due to the lack of the design documentation. A sort of distinction of a product used in a mining plant is presented in the approval for use in mining plants procedure.

Przedstawiono systemy oceny zgodności z wymaganiami bezpieczeństwa maszyn i urządzeń dla przetwórstwa żywności obowiązujące w Polsce i Unii Europejskiej. Porównanie systemów pozwala dostrzec różnice, które powinny być w najbliższym czasie zminimalizowane. Zwrócono uwagę na kierunki działań związanych z potrzebą modernizacji tych maszyn przez ich producentów z udziałem jednostek badawczo- rozwojowych.

Estimation systems of conformity of food processing machinery safety requirements with Polish and European Union standards is presented. Comparing the systems enables one to see differences, which should be minimized as soon as possible. Attention was also paid to directions of needed activity for modernization and redesign of the machinery by their producers with participation of research and development institutions.
