Artykuł przedstawia analizę zmienności pionowej i poziomej zawartości metanu w złożu KWK "Krupiński" na podstawie badań metanonośności pokładów węgla przeprowadzonych za pomocą powierzchniowych otworów wiertniczych. Zmienność tę zobrazowano wykresami metanonośności w profilach otworów, a także mapami izarytm zawartości metanu na poszczególnych poziomach w odniesieniu do poziomu morza. Wskazano czynniki geologiczne kształtujące tę zmienność oraz zaproponowano model metanonośności dla obszaru KWK "Krupiński".

The analysis of methane content changeability in the area of Krupiński Mine (the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, Poland) is based on the results of methane bearing studies provided by the coal samples obtained from the surface bore-holes. The area of the research is characterized by dense network of the bore-holes, and the distance between neighboring bore-holes is about 1 km. It let of the data be interpolated applying the geometric model of changeability. Methane content variability is shown on graphs in bore-holes profiles and also on maps of methane content made for the each level above the sea level. Basing on the maps and graphs, the geological factors influencing the methane bearing changeability are indicated. The most important among them are: lithology of Miocene cover and Carboniferous rocks represented, by gas-permeable Laziska sandstones and impermeable for gas siltstones and shales; faults interrupting the coal seams are the pathways for migrating methane. That is why the lithological and tectonic model of methane variability is indicated for the area of Krupiński Mine. The dense network of the bore-holes makes possible to provide the precise analysis of methane bearing the both horizontal and vertical changeability and also indicate the factors influencing this methane changeability.
