Autor przedstawia wyniki badań nad genezą systemu obrony powietrznej państw NATO oraz jego rozwojem w latach 1955-2015. Omawia przebieg integracji obrony powietrznej NATO w okresie zimnej wojny - w latach intensywnego wyścigu zbrojeń oraz dynamicznego rozwoju środków przenoszenia broni atomowej przez lotnictwo strategiczne i rakiety dalekiego zasięgu. Koncentruje się zwłaszcza na zmianach technicznych i nowych technologiach, które były sukcesywnie implementowane do zintegrowanego systemu obrony powietrznej NATO (NATINADS). Ważną część artykułu stanowią rozważania nad koncepcjami rozwoju obrony powietrznej opracowywanymi i wdrażanymi w XXI wieku, stanowiącymi bazę transformacji zintegrowanego systemu obrony powietrznej NATO, w tym wyposażenia go w zdolności do zwalczania rakiet balistycznych oraz innego rodzaju rakiet.

The author presents the results of research on the genesis of the air defense system of NATO countries and its development in the years 1955-2015. He discusses the course of NATO air defense integration during the Cold War - in the years of intensive arms race and dynamic development of means of transporting nuclear weapons by strategic aviation and long-range rockets. It focuses in particular on technical changes and new technologies that have been successively implemented in the NATO integrated air defense system (NATINADS). An important part of the article is a reflection on the concepts of air defense development developed and implemented in the XXI century, constituting the basis for the transformation of NATO's integrated air defense system, including equipping it with the capacity to fight ballistic missiles and other types of rockets.

For over a year, the United States’ missile defence systems have been the focus of attention of not only military experts but also mass media and public opinion. The main cause of this interest is certainly American proposal to locate Ground Based Interceptors (GBIs) on the territory of our country. However, the US missile defence programs have a long history, the knowledge of which seems not sufficiently systemised. The article explains the evolution of American missile defence systems in the aspect of changing political and military conditions in the course of sixty years after the end of World War II. Taking into consideration the aim of the article, the focus was drawn onto describing the problems concerning the first missile defence systems, whereas less attention was placed on current systems.

We współczesnych armiach świata eksploatuje się obecnie ok. 40 systemów rakietowych bliskiej obrony okrętu. Systemy rakietowe takie jak RZ-61 (wersja lądowa NEWA), Standard 1, Standard 2, Sea Scua Barak, Ram i inne znane są od wielu lat, ze względu na ich rozpowszechnienie lub zastosowane w nich nowe rozwiązania technologiczne. Wiele marynarek wojennych świata ma na wyposażeniu systemy skuteczne, choć mało znane. Do nich należą przedstawione w artykule rakiety Crotale i Aster, których charakterystyka winna przybliżyć możliwości ich użycia na współczesnym polu walki.

More than 40 close defense missile systems are exploited by world armies nova days. Missile systems like RZ-61 WOLNA (land version NEWA). Standard 1, Standard 2, Sea Scua, Barak, RAM, are well known because of prevalent and construction technology a lot navies use less known but very effective missile systems such as presented in article Crotale and Aster, which basic characteristics may bring closer their using on contemporary battlefield possibilities.
