The paper presents the complex structure of the assembly and sports hall "Spodek" in Katowice. This edifice is founded on a site exposed to possible damages due to mining activities. Constructing this building, the so-called kinematic system of founding was applied, consisting in the upheaval of the spot footings checking the creeping of the soil, reducing in this way the effect of the curvature of the terrain on the deformation of the main foundation ring. Advanced procedures of calculations have been presented, which permitted to assess the actual effort of the most important carrying elements of the hall. The way of strengthening those elements, whose load-bearing capacity was insufficient, has been characterized.

Przedstawiono metodę rektyfikacji oraz wzmocnienia istniejącej konstrukcji wiaty stanowiącej przekrycie nad dystrybutorami stacji paliw usytuowanej na terenach poddanych eksploatacji górniczej (II kategoria). Scharakteryzowano konstrukcję, przeanalizowano pierwotny stan jej wytężenia oraz wpływ oddziaływań wynikłych z eksploatacji górniczej. Sformułowano wnioski przydatne przy projektowaniu i wykonawstwie tego rodzaju obiektów na terenach poddanych eksploatacji górniczej.

The method of rectification and strengthening of existing umbrella roof construction making the lean-to over distributors of the petrol station situated on terrains' subjected to mining activity (II the category) is presented and discussed in the article. The construction was characterized with particular reference to elements giving influence on safety of objects erected on mining influences and damages terrains. The primordial state of stress of the construction and an influence of mining exploitation was analyzed. The conclusions useful in design and erection processes of such objects situated on mining terrains were presented.
