Drought is usually considered to be a period in which the river flow decreases below the flow mean value. Most of information concerning the drought occurrence could be obtained on the basis of variation analysis of average and Iow river stages and flows. The rainfall as the main source of river supply is an essential factor determining the occurrence of dry years and drought years. Summary of Iow river stages measured in the given intersection for 1955-2003 allowed determination of the medium Iow river stages as well as the trend of these stage changes. Trend can be increasing or decreasing and it shows that the river bottom in gauging section increases or decreases. The authors showed that calculation of change in annual Iow stages allow for the proper determination of stage-discharge relationships.
