Pomimo dynamicznych zmian zachodzących wewnątrz sił zbrojnych, jak i w ich otoczeniu zewnętrznym, istota poznania i obszary zainteresowania logistyki wojskowej pozostają od lat praktycznie niezmienne. Współczesny, interdyscyplinarny charakter logistyki wojskowej jest wypadkową jej długoletniej ewolucji, przebiegającej na przestrzeni lat w ramach wielu dyscyplin naukowych, spośród których prym wiodły: nauki wojskowe, nauki techniczne, zarządzanie, ekonomia czy kwalitologia. Szerokie spektrum tzw. pól problemowych logistyk wojskowej warunkuje ich rozpatrywanie na płaszczyźnie wielu dyscyplin w ujęcie interdyscyplinarnym. Obecnie wiele argumentów wskazuje jednak na to, że dyscyplina nauki o zarządzaniu i jakości w wymiarze epistemologicznym i ontologicznym wykazuje najściślejsze związki poznawcze z przedmiotem badań logistyki wojskowej. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja i ocena ewolucji logistyki wojskowej postrzeganej jako specjalności nauk wojskowych oraz nauk o zarządzaniu i jakości. Podjęty do rozwiązania problem badawczy został sprecyzowany w następującej postaci: Jaki wpływ na współczesny, interdyscyplinarny wymiar logistyki wojskowej wywarła jej ewolucja od nauk wojskowych do nauk o zarządzaniu i jakości? W materiale wykorzystano szereg metod, wśród których wiodące były: analiza i synteza, kwerenda literatury przedmiotu, abstrahowanie oraz wnioskowanie. Jako metodę empiryczną wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego z użyciem techniki wywiadu eksperckiego. Przyjęte podejście umożliwiło uzyskanie przekrojowego charakteru rozważań, dając jednocześnie podstawy do dalszych, poszerzonych badań tego niezwykle istotnego oraz aktualnego problemu.

Despite the dynamic changes taking place inside the armed forces and in their external environment, the essence of knowledge and areas of interest in military logistics have remained virtually unchanged for years. The modern, interdisciplinary nature of military logistics is the result of its long-term evolution over the years in many scientific disciplines, the leading of which were: military sciences, technical sciences, management, economics and qualitology. Currently, many arguments indicate that the discipline of management and quality science in the epistemological and ontological dimensions shows the closest cognitive connections with the subject of military logistics research. The aim of the article is to identify and evaluate the evolution of military logistics as a specialty of military science and management and quality sciences. The research problem undertaken has been specified as follows: What influence has its evolution from military sciences to management and quality sciences had on the contemporary, interdisciplinary dimension of military logistics? The material uses a number of methods, the leading of which were: analysis and synthesis, querying the literature on the subject, abstraction and inference. As an empirical method, the method of diagnostic survey with the use of the expert interview technique was used. The adopted approach made it possible to obtain a cross-sectional character of the considerations, at the same time providing the basis for further, extended research on this extremely important and current problem.

An occasional article on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Society of Defence Knowledge. The article presents the foundation and activity of the Polish Military Science Association in Polish corps in Russia in years 1917-1919, foundation of the Military Science Association in Poland 100 years ago, its organisational development until 1939, methods of propagating and popularizing the military science and co-operation with the civil society and institutions.

Artykuł przedstawia elektroniczne źródła informacji z zakresu nauk technicznych dostępne w Centralnej Bibliotece Wojskowej. Omówione zostały bazy danych EBSCO Academic Serach Complete oraz IHS Jane’s Defence Equipment & Technology Intelligence Center. Scharakteryzowano ich zawartość oraz narzędzia wyszukiwawcze. Część artykułu poświęcona jest Krajowemu Centrum Dystrybucji Publikacji NATO RTO. Przedstawiono zasady funkcjonowania Centrum, sposoby gromadzenia i udostępniania oraz narzędzia elektroniczne do przetwarzania informacji naukowej (bazę danych publikacji NATO RTO).

The article presents the electronic sources of information relating to technological sciences accessible in the Central Military Library. Databases that have been presented include: EBSCO, Academic Research Complete as well as HIS Jane's Defence Equipment & Technology Intelligence Center. Their contents and browsing tools have been described as well. A part of the paper is devoted to the National Centre for Distribution of NATO RTO Publications. The rules of Centre activity together with methods to collect and share information as well as electronic tools used to process information have been presented.

The article presents the current state of military sciences in Poland and the perspectives of their development. The authors start out with an assessment of undergoing changes of security issues and attempt to determine the requirement for military sciences needed to face upcoming security and national defence challenges. At the eve of another significant military eductional reform in Poland, the autors argue that a need to define and establish rules for a methodology and scienctific approach of military disciplines does exist. Proposals for change are presented; in particular disciplines forming the military sciences have been defined. Furthermore, the military sciences have been split into five distinct subjects (research obejcts): war, armed engagement, national security, armed forces, and the military defence system. An attempt is also made as to how the military sciences could arranged in one of three alternate categories. A table with a list of fields, in which doctoral titles can be conferred by current Polish military schools, is also provided. The future of military sciences has been presented in perspective of the future Polish National Defence University to be formed by October 2007 as well as with respect to recent Polish law on higher education.

At the beginning of the speech, the lecturer presented the organisation of the Ukrainian National Defence Academy, which is divided into six separate faculties, being responsible for training of specialists at operational and strategic level, training of Land Forces specialists, training of Air Force specialists, training of humanitarian specialists, additional training and retraining, extra-mural and external studies, and finally training of specialists of operational support and logistics. The lecturer stated that the officers’ professional development system at the operational and strategic level consists of three elements. The first is theoretical training (30%), the second-basic training (50%), and the third-training of officers for practical activity (20%). As far as the faculty of the Academy is concerned, it is possible to list more than 60 doctors of sciences and professors, and also about 200 PhDs and assistant professors. The main participants of the educational process conducted by the Academy, are high-ranking representatives of the government and parliamentary administration, i.e. chiefs of government agencies, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Chief of Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff, chiefs of the armed services and other officials of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence as well as the Armed Forces General Staff. While concluding, the lecturer presented challenges facing the Ukrainian National Defence. Academy, naming such elements as language training, leadership training, mental adaptation of the teaching staff to modern conditions as well as self-instruction.

The article focuses on the problem to define the value of errors in operational-tactical calculations made with the use of mathematical formulae. Weak points of calculations under analysis have been pointed out. A mathematical apparatus has been used for the description. The aim of the article is to show how dangerous it might be to apply mathematical dependencies indiscriminately. The first part of the article contains the analysis of arithmetic operations errors. The dependencies presented in this part have been subsequently used for the analysis of selected examples. Several types of mathematical dependencies included in instruction concerning basic operational-tactical calculations have been analysed. Conclusions in the final part of the article included hints to be taken into account while creating this type of instruction.
