The propose of the study was to determinate the effect of heat treatment as carried out by two methods, namely the fluidized-bed method and the conventional method, on the exploitational surface layer of the H13 steel. It has been demonstrated in the paper that fluidized bed heat treatment increases the durability of die inserts made of the H13 steel by four times. The objective of the study have been accomplished through metallographic examination using scanning microscopy and microhardness measurement.

Celem pracy było określenie wpływu obróbki cieplnej przeprowadzonej dwoma metodami: fluidalną i konwencjonalną na eksploatacyjną warstwę wierzchnią stali WCL. W pracy wykazano, że fluidalna obróbka cieplna zwiększa czterokrotnie trwałość eksploatacyjną wkładek matrycowych ze stali WCL. Cel pracy został zrealizowany za pomocą badań metalograficznych przy użyciu mikroskopii skaningowej oraz pomiaru mikrotwardości.

A Nimonic type alloy was subjected to the heat treatment which included homogenization (1200 degrees centigrade) and ageing (750 degrees centigrade) up to 850 hours. The precipitation process was examined by means of the following methods: transmition electron microscopy, light microscopy and microhardness measurements. The hardness changes have been analysed in connection with the precipitation morphology.
