W artykule przedstawiono wyniki studiów nad Tułowicami, najmłodszym miastem województwa opolskiego (status miasta od 2018). Założone cele pracy to przedstawienie profilu funkcjonalno-przestrzennego nowego miasta Opolszczyzny na tle jego położenia, powiązań i historii oraz nakreślenie mocnych i słabych stron miasta, szans i zagrożeń jego rozwoju w ramach przyjętego zakresu badań. W badaniach zastosowano metody: logicznej argumentacji, historyczno-interpretacyjną, pojedynczego studium przypadku oraz elementy analizy SWOT. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że Tułowice są miastem o znaczącym potencjale, wyrazistej tożsamości i dobrych perspektywach rozwoju.

The article presents the results of studies on Tułowice, the youngest town of the Opolskie Voivodeship (city status from 2018). The assumed aims of the work are to present the functional and spatial profile of the new town of the Opole region against the background of its location, connections and history, as well as outlining the strengths and weaknesses of the town, opportunities and threats to its development within the adopted scope of research. The following methods were used in the research: logical argumentation, historical-interpretative, a single case study and SWOT analysis elements. The research shows that Tułowice is a town with significant potential, distinct identity and good development prospects.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących nowych ośrodków miejskich województwa opolskiego, którym nadano status miasta po 1945 r. Założone cele pracy to: analiza aktów prawnych związanych z nadaniem statusu miasta w Polsce, charakterystyka miejskiej sieci osadniczej Opolszczyzny i wstępne rozpoznanie zbioru nowych miast regionu. W badaniach zastosowano metodę logicznej argumentacji oraz metodę historyczno-interpretacyjną. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że większość nowych miast została utworzona w okresie 1945-1989, nadaniu statusu miejskiego części z nich sprzyjała obecność przemysłu jako głównego czynnika ich rozwoju ekonomicznego. Zbiór tworzą miasta małe, pełniące funkcje siedzib gmin miejsko-wiejskich.

The article presents the results of research on new urban centers of the Opolskie Voivodeship, which were given the status of a city after 1945. The assumed aims of the study are: analysis of legal acts related to granting the status of a town in Poland, characteristics of the urban settlement network of the Opole region and preliminary identification of a set of new towns in the region. The research used the method of logical argumentation and the historical-interpretative method. The study shows that most of the new towns were established in the period 1945-1989, and some of them were granted urban status due to the presence of industry as the main factor of their economic development. The collection consists of small towns that function as seats of urban and rural communes.
