The results of many years' research conducted in the field of the post-buckling behaviour of steel girders in the Institute of Building Materials and Structures at the Cracow University of Technology are presented against a wide background of the newest international achievements in the range of studying and taking advantage of the post-buckling reserve of capacity of those structures. The existing state of art and investigation is collected and arranged. A particular accent is put on the hitherto dispersed results and conclusions of the author's own study. The directions of the possible further fatique research of the girders in the post buckling range are also shown.
