The concept of steel fatigue assessment is explained. The PN-EN approach to evaluation of fatigue strength of steel railway bridges is described. There are two allowable methods. One of them is based on stress cycle counting. Several fatigue trains, given in PN-EN, should be used to generate stress histories. Then, based on total damage, the equivalent stress range should be calculated. It is checked versus fatigue strength. This method seems to be hard to apply in engineering practice. Lack of working examples and computer aided stress cycle counting programs are the main reasons. The other is a "simplified" method. It takes the stress caused by LM71 (or SW/0) model as the equivalent stress range. This way is relatively easy and may be achieved based on traditional range of de
