The paper presents the construction, principle of operation, static and dynamic properties of inductive sensor for detecting of defects in metal. The examinations were carried out on test stand for simulation of running of slide saw steel disk for cutting the ingots. The method of extreme experimantal based on gradient plan was presented. The procedure was illustrated by example showing efficiency of method in the case when computer simulation of proceed phenomena (because of their complexity) encounters difficulties.
