This article deals with production planning in companies with a production flow shaped by the nature of a manufacturing system. It results from the technology used and relates to the tacting resource selected and described in the dissertation. The aim of the article is to present a method of production planning for the orders received that takes into account a specific production flow related to the tacting resource. The proposed method enables the creation of production plans that respect both the requirements of clients and constraints of the producer. The plan suggested is selected from solutions that can be found in the available time. The dissertation shows a model and assumptions for the class of production systems under consideration and gives relevant examples of companies. Both constraints determining the permissibility of a production plan and criteria for its selection are presented. The method devised is verified by means of its computer implementation, Examples of its employment are based on data from two production companies. The dissertation is summed up with conclusions and gives directions for further research. The article is directed at specialists dealing with the issues of production planning and steering. Being the subject of the dissertation, planning is considered in the context of specific production systems, which are, nevertheless, quite often encountered in companies of various branches. They are linked with a distinctive tacting resource. The examples used in the article show how the method devised can be employed and although they relate to the production of chinaware and bricks, they may also be used in the production of glass and glaze or in machining where products undergo heat treatment. The computer programme developed during the research may serve as a model for elaborating computer-aided production planning according to the method presented.
