Artykuł opracowano na podstawie danych pomiarowych stężenia metanu na wylocie z rejonu ściany P-4, uzyskane z automatycznego systemu pomiarowego w okresie od 01.07.2006 r. do 05.12.2006 r. Za pomocą opracowanego programu komputerowego obliczono średnie wartości dobowe stężenia metanu, a także znaleziono najniższe i najwyższe stężenia w danej dobie. Obliczono średnie wartości wymienionych wielkości dla poszczególnych dni tygodnia. Stwierdzono silne oraz znaczące zależności pomiędzy tymi średnimi a średnim wydobyciem dobowym w analizowanym oraz poprzednim dniu.

The paper was based on measurements data for methane concentration recorded at the mouth of the P-4 longwall region, received from the automatic measurement system in the period from 01.07.2006 to 05.12.2006. By means of the developed computer programme, the average day-and-night time values were calculated and the lowest and the highest values for a given 24-hour period were designated. The average values of the parameters were calculated for separate days of the week. Strong and substantial dependences were noted between those average values and the average 24-hour output on the day under the analysis and on the preceding day.

W artykule przedstawiono przykład badania właściwości czasowego obserwacji średniej metanowości dobowej rejonu ściany, których poznanie ułatwia dobór odpowiednich modeli prognozowania. Przedstawiono statystyki opisowe, test normalności rozkładu, omówiono funkcje korelacji cząstkowej, zanalizowano stacjonarność szeregu. Obliczenia wykazały, że szereg odznacza się silną zmiennością, nie posiada rozkładu normalnego, występuje w nim nieliniowy trend. Szereg posiada tzw. "długą pamięć", występują w nim wahania sezonowe oraz słabe wahania okresowe. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych testów zaproponowano modele prognostyczne adekwatne do właściwości zbadanego szeregu.

The article presents an example of the examination of properties of time series of average methane-bearing capacity observations of the region of a longwall, whose knowledge faciliates the selection of a suitable prediction model. Descriptive statistics and normality distribution tests were shown. Autocorrelation and prtial autocorrelation functions were discussed. The calculations proved that the series is characterized by considerable variability. It does not have normal distribution and non-linear trend occurs in it. The series has the so-called "long memory". Seasonal fluctuations and week periodical ones occur in it. On the basis of the applied test, prognostic models adequate to the properties of the examined series were suggested.
