Przedstawiono współczesne problemy badawcze metalowo-szklanych konstrukcji fasad budynków użyteczności publicznej. Omówiono rodzaje badań eksperymentalnych oraz symulacje numeryczne. Prezentowane badania posłużyły również do tworzenia innowacyjnych rozwiązań struktur elewacyjnych. Nowoczesne oprogramowanie umożliwia integrację badań eksperymentalnych z symulacjami numerycznymi oraz daje możliwość wykonywania badań w zakresie zmęczenia materiałowego, trwałości i niezawodności elementów i konstrukcji budowlanych.

The article presents current research problems of metal and glass structures of facades of public buildings. The article presents types of experimental research and numerical simulations. The article describes tests and assessments of modern solutions for facade elements and structures introduced to the construction market. Modern software allows for the integration of experimental tests with numerical simulations and gives the possibility to perform tests in the field of material fatigue, durability and reliability of building elements and structures.

Metal-glass curtain wall s are now an inherent element of urban landscape. Due to the variety of forms, unlimited color range, high thermal and acoustic insulation, functionality dedicated not only to separating the external and internal environment they inspire admiration and delight. Their appearance can give the impression that they are uncomplicated structures. The reality is reversed. Metal-glass curtain walls are assembled from a number of functionally diverse elements. Designing the façade to meet the requirements is a complicated process where designers, architects, constructors and systems manufacturers must be involved. Very important is the stage of installation a metal-glass curtain wall. Without experienced assemblers and appropriate equipment, it is not possible to perform it correctly. For this in practice there are numerous defects arising at the design stage and at the montage stage.

The aim of the article is taking a closer look at the problems concerning technical condition assessment with regard to correctness of project goals of structures metal-glass facade. Made is reference to the manner of their execution and proper functioning. The issue of accordance to good engineering practice of adapting changes in the system and adjusting the fitted solutions as reccomended by the producers. Above mentioned issues were dealt with given an example of high-rise building with applied curtain wall and a residential building where a filling structure is mounted.

W artykule omówione zostały skutki oddziaływań termicznych dla typowych konstrukcji fasad metalowo-szklanych zarówno w zakresie przyjętych rozwiązań projektowych (rodzaj ściany, schemat statyczny) jak i doboru odpowiednich materiałów. Autorzy pokazują wpływ temperatury na elementy nośne tego typu konstrukcji wraz z możliwymi konsekwencjami błędów projektowych lub wykonawczych. Artykuł zawiera wymagania stawiane przeszkleniom oraz elementom uszczelniającym ze względu na oddziaływania termiczne. Przywołane zostały również sposoby zabezpieczenia się przed niekorzystnym wpływem temperatury na etapie procesu projektowego jak i eksploatacji tego rodzaju konstrukcji.

Paper discussed impact of temperature effects in typical metal-glass facades on design solutions (type of facade, static scheme) and selection of proper materials. Authors explained impact of temperature on supporting elements with possible consequences of invalid design or assembly. Paper discussed also requirements for glass and gaskets and gave some solutions about protection against the unfavourable impact of temperature.
