Omówiono aspekty ekonomiczne i techniczne separacji CO₂ z gazu syntezowego w kontekście technologii energetycznych wykorzystujących układ bloku gazowo-parowego ze zintegrowanym podziemnym zgazowaniem węgla UGC/IGCC. Zaprezentowano nową koncepcję jednoczesnej separacji CO₂, związków siarki i wilgoci z paliwa gazowego przed jego spaleniem, wykorzystującą kontaktory membranowe.

Economic and techn. aspects of the sepn. of CO₂ from synthesis gas for energy prodn. in integrated gasification combined cycle and by underground coal gasification were taken into consideration. A new concept for simultaneous sepn. of CO₂, S compds. and moisture from the fuel gas (prior to combustion) by a membrane process was outlined. Selective sepn. of acid gas components in the membrane contactor resulted in redn. of plant size and improving the CO₂ stream quality necessary for its sequestration in a single-stage system.

The membrane-sorption integrated process has been performed. This process relates sorption of heavy metal ions with membrane separation of the sorbent. The main advantage of this method is the high efficiency and lower costs of the process comparing with classical sorption in a fixed bed. The use of low-cost waste materials has been investigated as an alternative to more expensive sorbents such as activated carbon or ion exchange resins.
