Medical objects are based on different formats, where graphics are the most representative. They provide us with tremendous volumes of the data, very troublesome in management processes. For simplifying these processes, many works for simple and fast descriptors finding were undertaken. Fashionable platform for solving these problems one can be found in XML environment. This technology enables ordering and simple organisation of the database, with friendly linguistic description of the discussed items.

This paper presents some aspects of the informatics implementation of the Neonatology Database, which was created in the Department of Bioinformatics and Telemedicine Collegium Medicum Jagiellonian Univ. in association with The Neonatology Clinic. The significance of this database for interdisciplinary collaboration is presented. The database is mainly utilized to gather hospital data in form of accessing and processing. The main assumptions of implementation are: universal code to use it by other clinics' databases, a centralized location of the database server and minimize client computer required. Programming languages (PHP), system server (Linux) and projects (Apache, MySQL, openSSL) are on GNU GPL license.

Praca opisuje wybrane aspekty implementacji bazy danych 'Neonatologia', która była zrealizowana w Zakładzie Bioinformatyki i Telemedycyny Collegium Medicum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego we współpracy z Kliniką Neonatologii. Praca stanowi przykład interdyscyplinarnej współpracy podczas realizacji systemu bazodanowego. Kliniczna baza danych przeznaczona jest zasadniczo do zbierania i przechowywania odpowiednio sformatowanych danych, umożliwia do nich dostęp i ich przetwarzanie. Głównym założeniem implementacji jest utworzenie szkieletu programistycznego (framework) systemu bazodanowego w celu ponownego jego wykorzystania na użytek innych klinik. Kolejne założenia głównie dotyczą uwarunkowań ekonomicznych: centralizacja położenia serwera i minimalizacja wymogów klienta-użytkownika systemu, wykorzystane języki programowania (PHP), system serwera (Linux) i serwery usług (Apache, MySQL, openSSL), które są. na licencji GNU GPL.

B-cell chronic lymphocitic leukemia (B-CLL) is the most common type of leukemia in adults. The aim of the work was to design and implement a computer registration and monitoring system for patients with B-CLL. The developed BIAL system comprises modules allowing for registration of the data related to patient's identification, patient's general state (e.g. objective examination, phenotype, etc.), laboratory examinations (biochemical, immunological and cytogenetical), applied treatment (chemo- and/or immunotherapy) and evaluation of immunotherapy on an animal model. Selected biochemical and immunological parameters can be presented on charts, to facilitate evaluation of patient's state, the course and outcome of the treatment. The BIAL system was preliminary verified basing on the data registration of 8 B-CLL patients treated with chemo- or immunotherapy in the Clinic of Hematooncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation MU in Lublin. It was found to be comprehensive yet easy to learn and use. The system should facilitate the current treatment of the B-CLL patients and should make a foundation for the future multi-patients data analysis leading to elaboration of the criteria for selection of the optimal treatment regimen for patients with B-CLL.

The multimedia databases organisation and management needs various standardisation for simplifying their structure and access methods. They allow integrating different levels and different techniques of programming. The paper describes several aspects of Medical Centre Services organisation that offers various services via Internet standards. Several multimedia systems for training processes have been implemented in this package for network information content development and distribution.
