The article presents Wilhelm His Sr.’s (1831-1904) methodological path of research in the field of neurophysiological foundations, explained through specific mechanical causes. In this research context, the scholar searched for the so-called fixed cause-and-effect principle, which refers to the targeted development of the nervous system. His’s pioneering research mainly focused on the structural genesis of the nervous system and the growth and development of embryonic neural cells.

Dyskutuje się perspektywy realizacji strategii zrównoważonego rozwoju. Wskazuje się na błędy współczesnej cywilizacji, przede wszystkim na błąd ekonomizmu i konsumizmu, oraz na zbyt wąskie rozumienie wyznaczników postępu. Przebudowa świadomości człowieka na wzór człowieka ekologicznego jest warunkiem koniecznym zrównoważonego rozwoju i właściwego wykorzystania postępu technologicznego.

Prospects of the implementation of strategies of the sustainable development are being discussed. They are pointed out the mistakes of the contemporary civilization, above all the mistakes of economism and consumism as well as the narrow understanding of progress determinants. The reconstruction of the awareness of the man following the example of the ecological man is a necessary condition of the sustainable development and due using the technological progress.
