The leading thought of the present text is that the internal combustion engine noise – regardless of all possible inconveniences – is a good information carrier that allows for the explicit diagnostics of such subtle defect as the valve face decrement which is so small that it is in practice ‘unnoticeable’ by the standard diagnostic-controlling system of a passenger car. However, such defect at its further propagation can be much more dangerous. Thus, diagnosing its initial state is worth trying. This study is a continuation of investigations where efforts were undertaken to perform the efficient diagnostics on the bases of observations and analyses of mechanical vibrations of the engine head.

Przeprowadzono badania wpływu nanodefektów na charakterystyki prądowo-napięciowe i prąd krytyczny wysokotemperaturowych taśm nadprzewodnikowych typu Bi-2223. Zanalizowano defekty powstające w taśmach, takie jak nanopęknięcia, wprowadzone w sposób sztuczny podczas nawijania elektromagnesu nadprzewodnikowego. Rezultaty przeprowadzonych badań eksperymentalnych są w dobrej jakościowej zgodności z zaproponowanym modelem teoretycznym, natomiast taśmy wykorzystane zostały do konstrukcji ogranicznika nadprzewodnikowego.

The investigations of the influence of the nanodefects on the current-voltage characteristics and critical current of the high temperature superconducting tapes of the Bi:2223 composition are presented. The internal nanodefects have been considered, arising as the result of bending stress, appearing during the winding procedure of the superconducting magnet. The experimental results are in qualitative agreement with theoretical model, while investigated tapes have been used as sensor element in the constructed fault current limiter.
