The effect of underwater radiated noise (URN) pollution (produced by merchant ships) on marine ecology has become a topic of extreme concern for both the academic community and the general public. This paper summarises some research results and modelling about shipping noise published over several decades, which comprises the research significance of low-frequency ambient noise and shipping noise, shipping noise source levels (SL), empirical models and the measurement standards of shipping noise. In short, we try to present an overall outline of shipping noise and ocean ambient noise for related research.

Zaprezentowano podstawowe zagadnienia związane ze spójnością pomiarową. Przedstawiono rolę, jaką pełni Laboratorium Metrologii Elektrycznej, Elektronicznej i Optoelektronicznej Instytutu Łączności w zakresie zapewnienia spójności pomiarowej i zadania stojące przed resortową służbą metrologiczną.

The article presents the basic issues related to the traceability of measurement results. It describes the role of the Laboratory of Electrical, Electronic and Optoelectronic Metrology at the National Institute of Telecommunications in ensuring the traceability of measurement results and the responsibilities of the national metrology agency.

The paper presents a project of calibration chain used in metrology of laser radiation. A method of reproduction and sequence of transfer of the units of laser radiation from primary standard to measuring instruments of these physical values are described, and uncertainties of measurement as well as fundamental inspection methods are shown. Schemes, principles of reproduction and transfer of the units of power and energy as well as basic metrological characteristics of the links of calibration chain are proposed.
