Influence of wrongly assumed probability distribution on the uncertainty of resistance measurement by technical method

The paper presents studies on the influence of probability distributions on the expanded uncertainty of the resistance measurement. Choosing the correct probability distribution is very important to estimate of measurement uncertainty. The most commonly used distribution is the rectangular distribution. The paper presents the results of analysis of the resistance measurement uncertainty using the technical method of two resistances: 1 Ω and 100 GΩ using different measuring equipment. The analysis of the uncertainty measurement of resistance was carried out repeatedly, each time assuming a different probability distribution of measuring instruments (normal, rectangular, triangular or trapezoidal). The results of the research presented in the article show that the influence of the assumed probability distributions on the result of the measurement uncertainty analysis is significant and results discrepancies can reach up to 30%.

W artykule przedstawiono metody prognozowania właściwości hydrodynamicznych obiektów pływających. Podkreślono znaczenie badań modelowych wykonywanych w skali rzeczywistej, przywołując konkretne przykłady. Opisane badanie oporu pneumatycznej tratwy ratunkowej, wykonane w warunkach wody spokojnej, na basenie holowniczym Ośrodka Hydromechaniki Okrętu CTO, zaprezentowane zostało w kontekście badań prototypu nowego środka ratunkowego, przeprowadzonych przez Katedrę Eksploatacji Statku Akademii Morskiej w Gdyni.

This publication presents methods forecasting the hydrodynamic properties of floating objects. It emphasized the importance of model tests performed in the real scale citing specific examples. The described resistance test of the pneumatic life raft, performed in calm water conditions, in the towing tank of Ship Hydromechanics Division of Ship Design and Research Center, is presented in the context of a prototype of a new means of rescue, conducted by the Department of Ship Operation, Navigational Faculty, Gdynia Maritime University.

W artykule przedstawiono opis skomputeryzowanego zestawu pomiarowego, umożliwiający automatyczny pomiar i ocenę wartości rezystancji zestyku złącz wielostykowych. Stanowisko umożliwia prowadzenie badań złącz słaboprądowych wielostykowych (do 31 zestyków), przy dowolnej liczbie cykli pomiarowych złącz lub zestyku. Prowadzenie badań złącza odbywa się w kraju i za granicą normy. Do podanego stanowiska pomiarowego opracowano program służący do sterowania stanowiskiem, rejestracji wyników oraz akwizycji danych pomiarowych w cyklu pełni automatycznym, wizualizację i analizę wyników pomiarów. Dla jednego złącza wielostykowego podano przykładowy histogram rozkładu wartości rezystancji zestyku złącz po wybranej liczbie łączeń.

The paper presents a computerised measurement set to measure automaticaly and to evaluate contact resistance in multicontacts. This laboratory stand makes possible to test upto 31 low current contacts at any number of measurment cycles. Test conditions are specified by currently valid Polish or foreing standarts. The stand is controlled by a computer. The programme has features to control, register test results, store the data automatically, present them graphically and analyse. An exemplary histogram of contact resistance distribution after some number of connections is presented.
