The degree of compaction Is is a measure of compaction of soil layers built into different types of embankments. The method of a direct measurement of the degree of compaction is most commonly used in field tests. A new evaluation of the type B uncertainty (caused by systematic effects) in Is measurement according to recommendations of International Organization for Standardization [1] is presented in this paper and compared with systematic uncertainty of the same measurement calculated using traditional total differential method.
