The article presents aspects connected with the identification of the main problems of the deaf and the hard of hearing when they use public transport and the related infrastructure in Poland. For the purpose of the analysis, a survey was conducted among 71 deaf and hard of hearing persons who live in large conurbations and use public transport daily. The survey included questions concerning to what extent the public transport and infrastructure are adapted to the needs of the hard of hearing. The participants evaluated the system of passenger information and indicated problems they come across most frequently in public transport vehicles and at stops. The problems were related to two primary issues: difficulties communicating directly with the drivers or when paying the fare in the ticket window and problems hearing and understanding voice messages played in vehicles and at train/bus stations.

The article discusses the purpose of applying priorities for selected public transport resources on the example of transport solutions in Polish cities. The article reviews systems and indicates the validity of their application in certain communication conditions.

Korzystanie ze środków transportu zbiorowego w miastach, jest dla wielu pasażerów koniecznością, ale dla wielu jest kwestią wyboru pomiędzy transportem zbiorowym a samochodem osobowym. Badania potwierdzają konieczność uatrakcyjniania podróży środkami komunikacji zbiorowej poprzez stałą poprawę jakości świadczonych usług. W Krakowie opracowano i przez wiele lat stosowano system statystycznej kontroli usługi transportowej. Podstawowe założenia systemu i uzyskane wyniki przedstawiono w artykule.

Usage of public transport means in cities for some passengers is the necessity, but for the other ones is a kind of choice between the usage of their own private car and the means of public transport. There are some results to support the thesis that the travels by public transport means should be more attractive especially by constant improvement of their quality. There was a system of statistical evaluation of quality of urban public transport, elaborated and applied in Cracow from 1997 to 2005. The general assumptions for the system and obtained results have been presented below.
