A variety of tool shoulder designs comprising three families i.e. blade, spiral and circular shaped scrolls, were produced to improve the material flow and restrictions to avoid the tunnel void. The bobbin tools were manufactured by 3D printing additive manufacturing technology using solid filament. The butt weld joint was produced by each tool using plasticine as the workpiece material. The apparent surface features and bi-colour cross-sections provided a physical flow comparison among the shoulder designs. For the bobbin friction stir welding (BFSW), the tool shoulder with a three-spiral design produced the most stability with the best combination of the flow patterns on surface and cross-sections. The circular family tools showed a suitable intermixing on the surface pattern, while the blade scrolls showed better flow features within the cross-sections. The flow-driven effect of the shoulder features of the bobbin-tool design (inscribed grooves) was replicated by the 3D-printed tools and the analogue modelling of the weld samples. Similar flow patterns were achieved by dissimilar aluminium-copper weld, validating the accuracy of the analogue plasticine for the flow visualization of the bobbin friction stir welding.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyze material flow from the perspective of a logistics operator operating in a distribution network at Material Decoupling Point (MDP). This analysis will focus on classifying the flowing products into the appropriate groups in terms of their sales characteristics, release volume and the value of the coefficient of variation. This analysis will also involve product classification in terms of forecast accuracy. Design/methodology/approach: Main method used for the research focuses on analyzing one of distribution network. Analyze considered examination of material flow and tests of forecast tool to improve operational issues. Findings: Logistics operator is able to forecasting demand of products in distribution network. It is interesting area of research developing in the future. Originality/value Forecasting is considered here as a kind of development perspective for the operator who currently does not make forecasts. Forecasting implementation could be in these case

The basic conceptual idea of logistics is the need to adapt the company to an ever-changing market situation, while spending a minimum of funds in these conditions. The concept of logistics is a system of views on the rationalization of economic activity by optimizing material flows. The paper investigates the change of the main indicators of the functioning of the supply chain, depending on the organization of distribution of the material flow. The supply systems of food products that form the consumer basket at the stage of distribution is considered. The conceptual schemes of freight flow distribution with and without distribution center is presented. The field research was conducted to determine and initial data were collected. The paper investigate the functioning of the supply chain in two cases: in a situation "proposed scenario" and in a situation "without a project". The situation "existing scenario" implies that no action to change the parameters of the supply chain during the period specified for the research does not take place. In this case, it is necessary to assess the effectiveness of the logistics chain under existing conditions. An integrated approach to evaluate the efficiency of the functioning of the logistics system and the consumer had been used. The efficiency of existing of the supply chain functioning were analysed. Also, certain measures will be implemented to improve the chain through investments and by bringing logistics infrastructure with the needs. A modelling of the supply chain was made. The effect of parameters of participants on the supply chain efficiency was analysed. The planned effect from the reorganization of distribution channels is calculated. The technological and economic feasibility of introducing a distribution center into the existing distribution channel based on modeling is calculated. The object of the research is the process of food products distribution in the supply chain. The aim of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the food supply chain scheme.

Logistics activities play in important role in supporting the production process for a wide range of products in many industries, such as the automotive or electrical engineering industries. In the automotive industry, they are present throughout the entire production cycle. To perform these activities, various technologies as well as economic aspects must be considered and employed. This contribution describes the technology of interior parts manufacturing for the automotive industry and specifies costs connected to the preparation and setting of machines and devices in individual workplaces as well as the cost items linked with their production and subsequent logistic activities.

Artykuł opisuje możliwość wykorzystania narzędzi szczupłego zarządzania do doskonalenia procesów produkcyjnych w małych przedsiębiorstwach. Porusza kwestię obaw związanych z koncepcją Lean oraz wskazuje przyczyny świadczące o konieczności jej wdrożenia. W ramach studium przypadku nawiązano współpracę z rodzinną firmą produkcyjną, zlokalizowaną na terenie Dolnego Śląska, specjalizującą się w produkcji wyrobów dostosowanych do indywidualnych potrzeb klientów. Bazując na pomiarach i obserwacjach przeprowadzonych na reprezentatywnych procesach, zidentyfikowano różne typy marnotrawstwa, którego wyeliminowanie pozwoliłby na rozwój firmy. Występujące problemy zobrazowano dodatkowo przy pomocy schematu przepływu materiału oraz diagramu spaghetti.

The paper describes the possibility of using lean management tools to improve production processes in small enterprises. It raises the issue of concerns about the Lean concept and indicates the reasons for its implementation. As a part of the case study, a cooperation was established with a family production company located in Lower Silesia, specializing in the production of products adapted to the individual needs of customers. Based on measurements and observations carried out on representative processes, various types of waste were identified as a potential for improvement. The problems appearing are illustrated with the use of the material flow diagram and the spaghetti diagram.

The main practical problem in the Logistics Department at the company is overstaffing in the unit responsible for the flow of materials. Carried out by the authors of the article, some detailed research on the process analysis in the discussed company indicates that the main cause of such a situation is related to an increase in the amount of transported material and a lack of redesigning the material flow in spite of the increased levels of production and acquisition of new projects. At present, at the company the material is prepared and transported by eleven employees whose work is not standardized and impossible to control. Such a large number of people working at the same time at the warehouse and moving through the transport corridors seriously affects the level of safety in a negative way. Therefore, the authors of the publication have suggested three solutions which involve some logistic changes in the existing process in order to increase safety and to reduce the number of staff involved in the transport.

Celem pracy jest zaprezentowanie wpływu roli opakowań na sprawność realizacji przepływów w ramach łańcucha dostaw. Analiza oparta na literaturze przedmiotu wykazała, że opakowania są podstawnym elementem łańcucha dostaw definiowanego jako sieć organizacji zaangażowanych, poprzez powiązania z dostawcami i odbiorcami usług dostarczanych ostatecznym konsumentom. W poszczególnych ogniwach łańcucha dostaw rola opakowań transportowych w sprawnym przemieszczaniu towarów od producenta do odbiorcy odgrywa duże znaczenie. Dotyczy to szczególnie przewozu, realizacji prac przeładunkowych, zabezpieczenia ilości i jakości towarów oraz ich identyfikacji. W poszczególnych ogniwach łańcucha dostaw opakowanie poddawane jest bowiem narażeniom, które mogą być potencjalną przyczyną strat w opakowaniu i zapakowanym wyrobie. Przeprowadzona w pracy analiza udowodniła, że właściwie zaprojektowane, wykonane i wykorzystywane zgodnie z przeznaczeniem opakowania mogą w istotny sposób wpłynąć na obniżenie kosztów, a także zapewnić jakość i bezpieczeństwo procesów w łańcuchach dostaw.

The aim of the paper is to present the impact of the role of packaging efficiency of flow in the supply chain. The literature-based analysis has shown that packages are basic part of the supply chain, defined as a network of organizations involved, by linking with suppliers and end-users of services delivered to the ultimate consumer. In the supply chain, the role of the transport packaging in the efficient movement of goods from the manufacturer to the customer is important. This applies in particular to carriage, transhipment, quality and quantity protection and identification. In the individual links in the supply chain, the packaging is subjected to exposure, which may be a potential cause of loss in the packaging and in the packaged product. An analysis of the work carried out proved that properly designed, constructed and used in accordance with the intended use of packaging can an important impact on reducing costs and ensure quality and safety processes in supply chains.

The irregularities of evolutionary development, continuous improvement of environmental component into transport and raise many unsolved problem in the fields of transport in logistics systems and material flows management. The city parameters analyses had highlighted connections with transport services technology. Also the distribution stage of the logistic chain, which consists of following market participants: incoming material flow, retailers and Transportation Company (carrier) in different cities has been considered. Transportation service is made by road transport. The paper compares results of transportation servicing in different cities and logistic chains with same technology. As performance indicator net present value has been used. Existing criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of distribution of material flows does not sufficiently take into account the time value of money and possible options for investment, so when estimating the performance of servicing of business investment indicators should be used. Paper should elucidate the impact of cities on the transport service efficacy. Practical suggestions on logistics system functioning and transportation service of retailers in urban area have been proposed. Obtained results discovered overall impact of city’s parameters (density of streets and roads network’ irregularity factor; automobilizationlevel; urban square; scheme of road network; city radius) on logistics according to model which include more than 50 parameters and allows finding regularities of changing logistics efficiency on them.

Experimental investigation was conducted to find out microstructural characteristic changes arising in the weldments AZ80A Mg alloys obtained using the friction stir welding. Tools with three different pin profile geometries were employed during this investigation at constant tool rotational speed and feed rate. Tensile tests are performed and the tensile fracture surfaces are examined using the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and the obtained SEM images are used for microstructural investigations. From the experimental results, it was observed that the geometry of the tool pin plays a significant role in producing essential stirring action there by regulating the flow of the plasticized material and leading to the formation of small sized grains having equally distributed fine strengthening precipitates. These structured grains have a direct reflecting impact in increasing the hardness and mechanical properties of the fabricated joints at the nugget zone of the friction stir welded AZ80A Mg alloy joints.

W artykule przedstawiony jest model matematyczny opracowany dla wydzielonego strumienia komponentów wejściowych. Zbudowany model ma służyć do walidacji potoków produkcyjnych w aspekcie jakości. Zamodelowany układ jest odzwierciedleniem rzeczywistych przepływów materiałowych na wejściu przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjnego. Do badań i modelowania został wybrany komponent, który stanowi znaczną wartość w urządzeniu końcowy. Ponadto ze względów organizacyjnych nie jest możliwa do przeprowadzenia kontrola parametrów pracy przed montażem komponentu w finalnym urządzeniu. W celu minimalizowania kosztów poniesionych na zużycie zasobów ważne jest aby liczba wadliwych komponentów była równa zero, szczególnie dotyczy to wad ukrytych, które możliwe są do stwierdzenia podczas testowania wyrobu gotowego.

Article depicts the mathematical model made for the certain stream of input components. This model can be used to validate the production stream in terms of quality. This system is a reflection of actual flow of material in the production company. Component which is very important to the device has been chosen to model and study. Moreover, due to the organizational reasons, it is impossible to conduct the control of the work’s parameters before installing it in the device. To minimalize the expenses for resources which will be used, it is important to be sure that every component will work properly and there is no place for any defective part. It is particularly important in case of latent defects which cannot appear unless the tests of final product begin.

The continuity of the flow of materials needed for correct operation of manufacturing systems can be achieved using different means and control methods. From the perspective of the technical infrastructure, it is important to ensure high reliability of machines, devices, and whole manufacturing lines. These objectives can be achieved through the use of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). Specific effects can also be achieved by using additional capacitive elements in device systems (manufacturing lines). The focus of this study is limited mainly to continuous flow systems such as complex material flow systems in power plants or mineral pre-processing plants.

Proces opróżniania silosów charakteryzuje się utrudnieniami i uciążliwościami eksploatacyjnymi, zróżnicowanymi ze względu na konstrukcje silosu, rodzaj składowanego materiału sypkiego oraz sposób opróżniania. W celu rozpoznania mechanizmu płynięcia oraz wpływu parametrów zewnętrznych na zachowanie się materiału sypkiego konieczne jest monitorowanie przepływu za pomocą metod nie wprowadzających zaburzenia w strukturę materiału sypkiego. Do metod takich należy metoda promieniowania rentgenowskiego. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów wypływu piasku bezkohezyjnego z modelu silosu z przepływem kominowym. Zastosowanie tomografii rentgenowskiej umożliwiło wizualizację przestrzenna struktury materiału podczas badań.

The process in which the silos storages are being emptied involves many difficulties and operational problems, varied due to the silos structure, type of the stored material and way in which the silo is emptied. In order to recognize the flow patterns and the impact of the external factors on behaviour of the loose material, it is required to monitor the flow with the use of methods that do not change the structure of the loose material. Method based on X-rays is one of the ways to realize the above. The article presents results of measurement of non-cohesive sand, in case of the silo which features funnel flow pattern. Using the X-ray method made it possible to visualize the material structure throughout the research.

To ensure a flow production is always necessary to provide the inputs and outputs of materials in line with customer requirements ie. design and implement the most efficient material flow. As the basis of efficiency is considered to be straightforward and simple course, a low rate of material flow, enabling the creation of larger, integrated volume handling units with which it operates as a single piece using mechanization. Straightforward and simple course depends on optimal spatial layout of the company (production and storage buildings) as well as a series of individual operations and the appropriate organization of production. In terms of control and management of material flow is the most important right choice and tuning of the management and material flow control.

IE3 w systemach transportu poziomego: Jakie faktycznie znaczenie mają obowiązujące od 2015 roku przepisy dotyczące skuteczności energetycznej urządzeń w dziedzinie przepływu materiałów? Czy obecnie zaczyna się przechodzenie całej branży na nowe silniki, czy też w kierunku przemienników częstotliwości? Przyjmijmy jako tezę następującą odpowiedź: Ponieważ duża ilość napędów w poziomym przepływie materiałów, z powodu zbyt niskiej mocy, nie jest objętych przepisami IE3, to można przyjąć, że wywołany przepisami trend nie będzie miał żadnego znaczenia. Lecz prognoza ta nie oznacza, że efektywności wykorzystania energii w przenośnikach rolkowych czy taśmowych nie należy przypisywać bardzo dużego znaczenia. Sama technika, zapewniająca oszczędność, jest poszukiwana ze względu na koszty jak nigdy dotąd, szczególnie z możliwie jak najmniejszą różnorodnością wariantów urządzeń.

This research is devoted to the problem of information flows of logistic system of goods supplying. Information messages appear at moment of material flows which should be consider as discrete one. It gives an ability to research all changes that can occur to input material flow. Moreover, it makes a possibility to obtain analytic dependence of showers of effectively of system from parameter of information and material flows interaction. Logistic chain was first decomposed on four basic logistic operation such as distributing, unitizing, breaking up, speed up. Three parameters were used to characterize them. All that parameters depend of main flow of goods, packets, transport packets. The principle of solid material flows was applied. Then points of control were defined. It was researched two parts of main problem. First deals with a increasing material flows andconsequences of logistic chain adopting after that. Second deals with an decreasing flow. Control of several ways of different changes of logistic schemas depends of existed information flows which may be sent at one of defined control point. The criteria of material and information flows interaction effectiveness is total time delay per unit. The principle of streamlining is just-in-time. Deviation of appointed moment of operation starting or finishing equals to additional costs. The result consists the dependence of total delay per unit from structure of information flows. It can be used as a condition of real logistic schema optimization.

The network-ness of the supply chain can increase the resistance but also be a potential source of additional disruptions. The surplus stock is one of strategies of improving the resistance. In the article I examined what influence of implementing the surplus stock on logistic costs and level of the logistic customer service were, in the network supply chain in the environment of disruptions in material flows.

This article shows step by step process of creating general algorithm saying how to implement continuous flow in production companies. Article is based on real environment of medium Polish production company, which produces steel halls. After presenting basic information about TOC and LEAN tools it shows and algorithm showing activities and sequence made in real company. Authors proposed solutions referred to both the material flow changing's and the information flow changing's. Main goal was adapt production process to unchangeable work of bottleneck. After all, results of production flow simulation after implementation of above solutions were presented. Finally, authors created algorithm based on techniques and tools implemented in mentioned company. It shows in general what production engineers should do step by step while implementing continuous flow in production.

W artykule przedstawiono częściowe wyniki prac zrealizowanych w Wyższej Szkole Logistyki, w ramach szerszego projektu badawczego zatytułowanego „Instrumenty informacyjne wspierające optymalizację procesów transportowych w łańcuchach dostaw”. W celu stworzenia standardów procesów w łańcuchach dostaw, dokonano przeglądu literatury w zakresie badań nad procesami w łańcuchu dostaw. Zidentyfikowano i opisano również dostępne rozwiązania informatyczne odnośnie do zarządzania procesami na poziomie łańcucha dostaw, takie jak SAP APO (Advanced Planning & Optimizing) czy SAP Business Suite. Następnie autorka przeanalizowała teoretyczne modele zarządzania łańcuchami dostaw: model zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw – SCM (Supply Chain Management) – opracowany przez The Global Supply Chain Forum, referencyjny model oceny łańcucha dostaw – SCOR (Supply-Chain Operations Reference-Model), modele procesów planowania i działania w łańcuchach dostaw według Gartner Group i komponentowy model biznesowy – CBM (component business model), opracowany przez IBM. Do modelowania procesów wykorzystano BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation). Ostatecznie został przedstawiony przykładowy standard procesów przepływu materiałów w łańcuchu dostaw dla handlu detalicznego, z efektami w postaci jego modeli stworzonych przy zastosowaniu narzędzia BPMN.

The article presents a partial results of the work carried out at the Poznan School of Logistics, within a wider research project entitled "Information instruments supporting optimization of transport processes in the supply chain." In order to standardize the processes in the supply chain, a review of the literature in research on the processes in the supply chain has been done. The available solutions for the management processes in the supply chain, such as SAP APO (Advanced Planning & Optimizing) and SAP Business Suite has been identified and described. Furthermore, the author has analyzed the theoretical models of supply chain management: a Supply Chain Management model, developed by The Global Supply Chain Forum, a Supply-Chain Operations Reference-model ‒ SCOR, planning and operation processes in supply chains models, according to Gartner Group and a Component Business Model ‒ CBM, developed by IBM. BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) to process modelling was used. Finally, an example of a standard process of materials flow in the supply chain for the retail trade, with the effects in the form of its models developed by using BPMN tool was presented.
