We deal with the existence of the material derivative of the Laplace equation with the Neumann boundary condition in the half space. We consider two different perturbations of domains to get the existence of weak Gateaux material derivative and the existence of Fréchet material derivatives.

The optimal shape design of capacitor using level set method and material derivative technique was presented in the paper. The inverse problem solution provides the position of the capacitor plate, which was optimized to achieve required potential distribution. In this case the efficiency of both methods was compared.

W pracy przedstawiono metodę optymalnego projektowania kształtu kondensatora z użyciem metody pochodnej materialnej i zbiorów poziomicowych. Rozwiązanie zagadnienia odwrotnego pozwoliło określić położenie okładek kondensatora dla zadanego rozkładu napięcia. Na tym przykładzie porównano wydajność obu metod.

Material and shape derivatives for solutions to the Dirichlet Laplacian in a half-space are derived by an application of the speed method. The proposed method is general and can be used for shape sensitivity analysis in unbounded domains for the Neumann Laplacian as well as for the elasticity boundary value problems.
