The results of optimizing laser cutting parameters of footwear materials, i.e. speed and power, are presented. Selected materials were tested, differing in terms of raw material and/or manufacturing method, thickness and intended use. On the basis of the tests, it was found that the physical properties of CO2 laser radiation – Maximus PRO (model: JSM 90 x 60), ensure high quality processing of any footwear materials. The visual effects of the cut depend on the precision of the focal length settings between the flat cutting surface and the laser head, as well as the speed and laser power parameters. Therefore, it is necessary to always select them on the basis of the control tests.

In this paper authors focused on the thermal properties of polymer materials used as footwear linings. The research concerned on the two types textiles: with two-dimensional and spacer structures. The monitoring of thermal conductivity property through the upper footwear materials is very important in order to create the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of them and make the recommendations to use of them in a footwear applications. In the next step of research, the two-layered packages were created and then the previously mentioned properties were measured. The optimal packages due to the thermal resistance and absorption were found based also on the other hygienic measures, like water vapour permeability and absorption.

Zbadano właściwości przewodnictwa cieplnego polimerowych materiałów obuwniczych płaskich i przestrzennych.

The main goal of this paper was to analyse the hygienic properties of textile packages used for the construction of shoe uppers. Distance fabrics with varied hygienic properties were the basis of these packages. The discomfort indexes, which describe changes in footwear microclimate, were calculated according to the moisture absorbance capacity and temperature changes in the immediate surrounding of the foot skin surface. The experiment was done for a group of grain leather uppers, where the Grubbs test (α = 0.05) gave positive information about the outliers, describing such parameters as the water vapour permeability and water vapour coefficient. The phase changes of the shoe microclimate were detected via temperature and relative humidity sensors during simulation of the shoes used via an elliptical trainer for a group of 7 men. Statistically significant differences between the packages upper – lining confirmed the possibility of monitoring the circulation of biophysical mediums inside a footwear volume. The appropriate choice of package materials could raise the comfort conditions for users. For certain material configurations the microclimate conditions described by the discomfort index were improved.

The Institute of Leather Industry in Krakow has been testing and evaluating materials designed for special footwear. Such shoes are mainly the interest of the elder who often face the limitation of mobility due to sensible feet, people with temporary limitations of the lower limbs (after various treatments and surgical operations), as well as people with diabetic foot syndrome or rheumatoid arthritis. The analysis of the research allowed selecting as well as to work out new material configurations, that meets the high requirements of such footwear, taking into account the optimal utility and hygienic properties as well as it settles the requirements for physic-mechanical parameters, hygienic parameters and the limits of selected chemical substances for special footwear materials intended for people suffering from limited feet efficiency.

In this article the discussion was conducted on properties of currently applied upper materials and on internal elements of footwear (linings, insole linings, inserts). The results of laboratory investigations of hygienic properties these materials and elaborated and recommended by CLPO technical requirements were applied to assessment of usefulness of these materials on uppers of exit footwear and wholesome.

Measurement of permeability, absorbability and penetrability is possible to conduct in static (where are not presented the real conditions inside the shoe) and dynamic (where are partly presented the conditions inside the shoe) conditions. Different searching methods make more difficult comparison of water resistance properties of soft leathers. Considering all dates purposely is using new technological solutions to improve water resistance of the leather.
