The safety of machinery is a very important aspect for its correct functioning in the conditions of modern production or assembly. According to the standards, manufacturers of special-purpose machines and devices are obliged to provide their equipment with a certificate of conformity (CE). This article describes the concerns of insufficient safety of a device. Insufficient coverage of part of the line meant that the certification did not take place, and the safety requirements were not met. The TRIZ method was used to resolve this technical discrepancy, providing designers with "instructions" on how to proceed, solve complex problems at the level of discrepancies and create solutions. By agreement of the designers, a solution that was not economically and implementation-intensive was created. All doors and windows within the fencing have been reinforced, thus achieving a greater degree of security. The resulting solution was subjected to simulations in the Ansys Workbench program, and the FEM analysis led to certain conclusions. The results were then moved to the structural engineer to assess the solution, who then approved the solution and successful certification of part of the device, respectively, in the assembly line.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to introduce a solution that can enhance the reconfigurability of special purpose machines (SPMs). This is because SPMs can be used in different configurations and the reconfiguring time for these machines can be crucial. Therefore, it is important to reduce this time in order to enhance the performance of SPMs. Design/methodology/approach: A mechanical adapter is proposed as a solution to achieve the purpose of this paper. The design of the adapter is based on Multi Coupling (MC) type, and its functionality is based on “Plug and Produce”. This adapter is used to modify an SPM element called workpiece transfer in order to accommodate two types of chucks without the need to change the workpiece transfer. The performance criteria are analysed and investigated for this adapter. Findings: The proposed solution will enhance the reconfigurability of SPMs. This is because it will reduce the number of elements that are needed for reconfiguration. As a result, the time and cost for the reconfiguration will be reduced considerably. Research limitations/implications: Because SPMs have several types of elements, adapting the proposed solutions to be used for all elements can be a complex process. Therefore, more investigation and analysis need to be carried out in order to build a complete adapter system for SPMs. Practical implications: SPMs are already used widely in manufacturing. However, they are considered relatively expensive compared to the traditional machines tools because they are applied for special applications. The proposed solution will help to overcome this problem and make SPMs applicable for wider applications. Originality/value: The proposed solution is the first attempt in terms of enhancing the performance of SPMs. This can bring considerable benefits to the end users in manufacturing, who are using SPMs, in order to reduce the reconfiguration time and cost for these machine tools.

Winch, commonly called lift, is a very useful construction machine. In brief, it is a device, that thanks to the generated towing power can be used to relocate the cables, lines, pipes, lining or devices. They can be classified according to different criteria. The author proposes the system of division, that shows the variety and many types of these machines. Depending on the needs and tasks, the proper winches are applied. The following division is adopted, e.g. division in relation to drive, method of power transfer to the line, method of capstan or drum drive or due to the purpose.

Micro Tunnel Boring Machines (MTBM) have seen wide applications in pipe jacking and microtunnelling projects. Accurate MTBM positioning and attitude measurement are crucial to guiding the MTBM's advance, controlling line and level of the subsurface tunnel, and tracking MTBM's production progress. In this paper, we first evaluate pros and cons of available MTBM guidance systems. Our evaluation covers prevalent passive and active laser targeting systems for short and straight drives, along with gyroscope-based inertial navigation systems specifically designed for curve drive. We then propose a real-time, automated solution to MTBM guidance by application of state-of-the-art robotic total stations.

Technologie bezwykopowe ulegały na przestrzeni ostatniego ćwierćwiecza wielu modyfikacjom i firmy produkujące pompy musiały dostosowywać się do wymagań rynku za pomocą innowacji technicznych.

The author of the paper points out that pumps are an indispensable element for the vast majority of industry installations, including those executed with no-dig technology. Pumps are among most widely practiced construction machines, used in oil industry, power industry, construction, waterworks, agriculture and many other aspects of life. They are also essential for the sector of trenchless construction and rehabilitation of underground pipeline infrastructure. The last quarter of century has been a great leap forward for the no-dig industry and its developments and the pump manufacturers needed to adjust their offer to the market requirements with technical improvements. The range of pump usage and their application for different purposes are described in the paper.
