Concept of the facility for testing the wear of chain links in the aspect of synergism of environmental factors

The article presents the concept of a test stand for laboratory comparative tests of the multifactorial wear of chain links used in scraper conveyors, the aim of which will be to improve the durability of chains by using more favourable materials from which the chain links are made. The tests will focus on the zones of links cooperation under load. The concept was preceded by a theoretical introduction illustrating the nature of the wear of chain links and the synergy of wear processes. 3D model of the test stand and proposals for technical solutions of each component were discussed. The test stand will enable testing the environmental factors increasing the intensity of the wear process in several arrangements. These include, among others mineral abrasive, mine water and dynamic forces acting on the chain. The method of verifying the concept of the test stand using the simplified prototype made in the 3D printing technology was also presented.

Łańcuchy ogniwowe górnicze stosowane są w układach pociągowych maszyn górniczych ścianowych, takich jak przenośniki ścianowe, strugi węglowe czy kombajny ścianowe z łańcuchowym układem posuwu. Ze względu na trudne warunki pracy panujące w wyrobiskach ścianowych następuje szybka degradacja własności użytkowych łańcuchów. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe procesy niszczące prowadzące do degradacji własności użytkowych łańcuchów ogniwowych górniczych oraz dokonano charakterystyki pęknięć zmęczeniowych ogniw tych łańcuchów. Przedstawiono przykłady typowych uszkodzeń ogniw łańcuchów pociągowych stosowanych w maszynach górniczych.

Round link chains are used in haulage systems of longwall mining machines such as armoured face conveyors, plow systems or shearers with chain haulage systems. Due to the difficult working conditions in longwall excavations the rapid degradation of operational properties of chains occurs. The article presents the basic destructive processes leading to the degradation of the operational properties of mining haulage chains and the characteristics of fatigue cracks in the chain links. Examples of typical damage of the round chain links used in the longwall machinery are also presented.

W pracy przedstawiono podstawowe założenia zintegrowanego systemu sterowania maszynami i urządzeniami tworzącymi kombajnowy kompleks ścianowy. Wyznaczono cele techniczne, które powinien realizować zintegrowany system sterowania, obejmujące: cele podstawowe, cele kontrolne i cele wspomagające użytkowanie. Cele te wynikają z potrzeby zapewnienia: pełnego wykorzystania potencjału technicznego maszyny urabiającej, maksymalizacji dyspozycyjności ścianowego systemu mechanizacyjnego, prowadzenia diagnostyki eksploatacyjnej przenośnika ścianowego, prawidłowych warunków zasilania hydraulicznego sekcji obudowy zmechanizowanej, bieżącej kontroli sprawności czujników i przekazywania sygnałów pomiarowych oraz sterujących (bezpieczeństwo funkcjonalne). Ponadto system ten powinien umożliwić ocenę: wykorzystania potencjału technicznego maszyny urabiającej, prawidłowości doboru układu napędowego przenośnika i jego wydajności, a także parametrów sekcji obudowy zmechanizowanej. Zaproponowano wykorzystanie w zintegrowanym systemie sterowania lokalnych systemów sterowania poszczególnych maszyn i urządzeń, przy zastosowaniu dodatkowego sterownika centralnego, podłączonego do pozostałych systemów w sposób gwiaździsty. Rozwiązanie to, w którym decyzje o przebiegu procesu podejmowane są przez sterownik centralny, zapewnia prawidłowe działanie systemu w nieco ograniczonym zakresie w przypadku uszkodzenia jednego z połączeń.

The article features basic assumptions of an integrated system to control machines and equipment which make up a longwall mining system. The following technical objectives were determined to develop the integrated control systems: basic objectives, control objectives and exploitation-supporting objectives. In particular, they refer to: full-range use of technical potential of a mining machine, maximum availability of the mechanized longwall mining system, operating diagnostics of a longwall conveyor, checking the accuracy of hydraulic power supply conditions for a powered roof support unit, regular day-to-day control of sensors efficiency as well as measurement and control signal transfer (functional safety), assessing the use of the mining machine technical potential, assessing the accuracy of the selection of a longwall conveyor driving system, and working parameters of the powered roof support unit. It was proposed to use local control systems in the integrated machine control system, with the use of an extra central controller having a star connection with the other systems. This solution, in which the decisions about the process are made by the central controller, ensures proper operation of the system in a slightly limited range when one of the connections is damaged.

W odniesieniu do stanu aktualnego zmechanizowanych systemów ścianowych stosowanych w podziemnym górnictwie węgla kamiennego przewiduje się, że trendy dalszego ich rozwoju obejmą: zwiększenie szerokości przenośników ścianowych, prędkości i wytrzymałości łańcuchów ogniwowych, automatyzacji maszyn ścianowych, mocy i wydajności kombajnów, efektywności sekcji obudowy zmechanizowanej i ich sterowania, zwiększenie wielkości pól eksploatacji dla danej ściany.

In relation to the present condition of mechanized longwall systems, used in the hard coal mining industry, it is foreseen that their development trends will include a width increase of armoured face conveyors, an increase of speed and strength of link chain conveyors, an automation of longwall machines, an increase of installed power and production rates of shearers an efficiency increase of longwall support units and of their control as well as an increase of mining panels' size for a given longwall.
