Mechanization of the process of core making with the use of inorganic and organic binders is based, almost solely, on core blowing machines. Presently the core blowing machines are equipped with tools and devices that allow for application of different technologies of core making. Cold-box, hot-box and warm-air technologies require that core blowing machines shall be additionally equipped with either core-box pre-heating system or gas purging and neutralization system, or hot air purging systems. Considering the possibility of using varied, the most advantageous technologies of core making, the production of universal core blowing machines equipped with replaceable devices has been undertaken in Poland. The universal core blowing systems allow for mechanization of core making process also with the use of sand, bonded by modern, eco-friendly binder systems. The paper presents selected results-based evaluation of core blowing process showing the scope of conducted design and implementation works.

This study focuses on determination of the relationships between equipment efficiency in casting machines and the level of quality. The determination was made based on coefficients of Total Productive Maintenance and r correlation coefficient. The degree at which break-downs and downtime affect the occurrence of non-conforming products was also evaluated. The goal of further investigations is to determine the structure of downtime and finding which downtime types have greatest impact on the quality of die-casting products.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę odmian maszyn formierskich, w których zastosowano instalacje podciśnieniowe. Na podstawie wyników własnych badań procesu podciśnieniowego przedyskutowano najważniejsze parametry wpływające na przebieg procesu i uzyskiwane efekty zagęszczania. W badaniach zastosowano metodę szybkiego filmowania procesu oraz dynamiczne pomiary ciśnienia.

In the article variation of vacuum assisted moulding machines design has been presented. On the base of own research of vacuum assisted moulding results the basic parameters influenced on the process and obtained compaction effects have been discussed. In the investigation tests the high-speed-imaging method and dynamical pressure measurement have been used.

W artykule zaprezentowano wybrane charakterystyki techniczne urządzeń wchodzących w skład systemów monitoringu poboru mocy przez urządzenia odlewnicze. Przedstawione systemy są obecnie analizowane i testowane w Katedrze Mechanizacji, Automatyzacji i Projektowania Odlewni na Wydziale Odlewnictwa AGH (KMAiPO) pod względem ich przydatności w badaniach wpływu wybranych parametrów technologicznych na pobór mocy i zużycie energii przez określone maszyny i urządzenia odlewnicze.

In the paper the selected technical data of the devices being the elements of the monitoring system of power consumption by foundry machines have been presented. Described system are currently analysed and tested in Mechanization, Automation and Foundry Designing Department of the Foundry Engineering Faculty (UST – AGH) in terms of their usability in the examinations of the selected technological parameters impact on power and energy consumption by casting machines and devices.

W artykule przedstawiono stan wyposażenia nowoczesnych odlewni w maszyny odlewnicze. Szczególną uwag? zwrócono na urządzenia, których produkcję można uruchomić w Polsce. Byłyby one przeznaczone do przygotowywania materiałów i mas formierskich, jak również do produkcji form i rdzeni. Przeanalizowano także stan badań w zakresie odlewnictwa prowadzonych w krajowych ośrodkach uczelnianych. Przedstawione wnioski wskazują na najbardziej istotne wymagania, które powinny być spełnione w celu stworzenia dobrych podstaw do perspektywicznego rozwoju polskiego przemysłu odlewniczego.

In the article the foundry equipment destinated for modern foundries according to actual technical level was described. The special attention was focused on equipment for foundry material treatment, and green sand preparation as well as on machines adopted for mould and core manufacturing which might be manufactured in Poland. The state of research supported foundry technology carried out at several polish university centers dealing with foundry sciences were also analyzed in the article. The conclusion regarded to the most important demands which have to be fulfilled for preparing good backgrounds for perspective development of Polish foundry industry.

W maszynowym wykonywaniu form odlewniczych dominuje obecnie zagęszczanie dwustopniowe z wykorzystaniem doprasowania w ostatniej fazie formowania. W artykule przedstawiono analizę formowania podciśnieniowego z doprasowaniem oraz wybrane wyniki badań tej metody formowania. Opisano również występujące warianty formowania podciśnieniowego jako wstępnego etapu zagęszczenia masy. Określenie charakterystyki procesu formowania pozwoli na dobór optymalnych parametrów pracy maszyny.

In current moulding machines, two-phase compaction process is usually used. The squeezing is a final operation. In the article the analysis of vacuum moulding process as well as selected results of research of vacuum and squeezing moulding have been presented. The possible variation of vacuum moulding used as initial compaction of the mould have been also described. The evaluation of the such processes characteristics is helpful in choice of proper operation parameters of moulding machine.

Opisano badania, realizowane pod kątem optymalizacji zadań technologicznych w urządzeniach odlewniczych, zmian konstrukcji elementów maszyn i urządzeń odlewniczych bezpośrednio wpływających na przebieg i skuteczność realizowanych procesów technologicznych. Przedyskutowano też zagadnienia eksploatacji maszyn i utrzymania ruchu, a także metrologii oraz diagnostyki maszyn. Omówiono ważniejsze tematy badawcze zrealizowane w Pracowni w ostatnim okresie czasu z podaniem ich efektów naukowych i aplikacyjnych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zainstalowanych w Laboratorium Maszyn Odlewniczych stanowisk i urządzeń do badań procesu regeneracji.

The research trends of this Laboratory, which concentrate on the elaboration of the theory of the operating processes in modem foundry machines and installations are presented. The investigations performed from the viewpoint of technological problems in foundry installations, design changes in machine parts and foundry installations influencing directly the course and effectiveness of the performed technological processes are described. The problems of the operation of the machines, of the maintenance service and also metrology and diagnostic of the machines are dealt with. The more important research themes performed in the Laboratory in the last period when giving their scientific and applicable effects are discussed with special consideration of the installed in the Laboratory for Foundry Machines stands and installations of testing the reclamation process of sands.
