Jednym z parametrów służących do opisu właściwości przepływowych elementu pneumatycznego jest krytyczny stosunek ciśnień b, zdefiniowany i wykorzystywany w ISO 6358 oraz ISO 6953. Jednak w myśl metod jego wyznaczania opisanych w ISO 6358 i ISO/DIS 6358 definicja ta wydaje się być inna. W pracy omówiono warunki jakie musi spełniać element pneumatyczny, aby wartość b wyznaczona tymi metodami była zbliżona do wartości definicyjnej. Pojawiające się różnice wartości ukazują podane przykłady.

Two international standards, ISO 6358 [8] and ISO 6953 [12], utilise, inter alia, the critical pressure ratio b (equations 2 and 3). Both standards define it as a ratio of the downstream static pressure to the upstream static pressure at which the mass flow rate of the gas through the component is at its maximum. But the methods for its determination, presented in ISO 6358 [8] and ISO/DIS 6358 [14], seem not to confirm the definition. There are four examples of b determination, according to ISO 6358 [8] and ISO/DIS 6358 [14], presented in this paper (3 computer simulations and one real pneu-matic circuit). Analysing them, it can be observed that the real value of b (from definition) is equal to the determined one only if the flow characteristic of the analysed pneumatic component is identical with the expansion function (2) from [8] or (3) from [12]. Because of significant differences between the definition and determined values, one of two things should be done: the definition of the critical pressure ratio b in ISO 6358 [8] and ISO 6953 [12] should be changed or new methods for b determination should be developed.
