Gas-liquid two-phase flow in minichannels has been the subject of increased research interest in the past few years. Evaluation, however, of today's state of the art regarding hydrodynamics of flow in minichannels shows significant differences between existing test results. In the literature there is no clear information regarding: defining the boundary between minichannels and conventional channels, labelling of flow patterns. The review of literature on the hydrodynamics of gas-liquid flow in minichannels shows that, despite the fact that many research works have been published, the problem of determining the effect of diameter of the minichannel on the hydrodynamics of the flow is still at an early stage. Therefore, the paper presents the results of research concerning determination of flow regime map for the vertical upward flow in minichannels. The research is based on a comprehensive analysis of the literature data and on the research that has been carried out. Such approach to the mentioned above problems concerning key issues of the two-phase flow in minichannels allowed to determine ranges of occurrence of flow structures with a relatively high accuracy.

Celem pracy było określenie warunków tworzenia się struktur przepływu mieszanin ciecz - ciecz w różnej geometrii mikrokanałów. Do badań użytomediów doświadczalnych o różnych właściwościach fizykochemicznych. Zbadano warunki tworzenia się struktur emulsji w mikrokanałach wykonanych z plexi oraz z szklanych kapilar o wymiarach l mm i 0,5 mm. Opracowane w literaturze mapy przepływu mieszanin dwufazowych ciecz - ciecz są nieodpowiednie dla przepływów ciecz — ciecz w mikrokanałach.

Experimental results concerning condition of two-phase flow of liquid liquid mixtures in minichannels are presented. Conditions of the formation of different two-phase flow structures in minichannels of 1 and 0.5 mm in diameter were experimentally determined. Two-phase flow maps published in literature appeared to be unsuitable for two-phase flow in mini-channels.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących obserwacji struktur przepływu, jak również pomiarów udziałów objętościowych faz przy przepływie mieszaniny trójfazowej powietrze — woda — olej przez łuk rurowy. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań zidentyfikowano formy przepływu trójfazowego, opracowano mapę takiego przepływu oraz określono wartości udziałów objętościowych powietrza.

The paper presents a problem of the flow irregularity in a multi-pipe apparatus using the digital image processing method. The grey level value of recordings obtained in gas - liquid flow was a basic parameter for process investigation and allowed one to identify two-phase flow structures. The research results were presented on a flow map.

The hydrodynamic regimes of gas-liquid flow in a microreactor channel have been investigated using water and 1-propanol (liquids with different contact angle and surface tension values) and nitrogen as inert gas. The microreactor was Y-shaped. Experiments were carried out to determine the character of gas and liquid flow ("regime map"). Four main flow types were observed: bubble, slug, slug/annular and annular.

The paper presents the problem of the irregularity of flow in multi-pipe apparatus. The work was realized with the use of digital image processing. Two phase air-water flow was registered by fast CMOS video camera. Flow structures were defined on the basis of visual methods. The results of research were presented on the basis of two kinds of flow regime maps.

Zaproponowano mapy przepływu do opisu obszarów występowania struktur o różnym stopniu zmieszania składników strugi trójfazowej.

In the paper the experiments of the hydrodynamic flow of gas-liquid-liquid mixture in horizontal pipes were carried out. The partial work results connected with air—water—oil flow were presented. Flow maps were proposed in order to describe areas where structures of different mixing degree of three phase mixture components exist.
