Content available remote Methodology of evaluation of value created in the productive processes

Purpose: Of this paper was to present the methodology of analysis of the productive processes with application of value analysis and multi-criterion-analysis which allow to evaluate the technology and organization of the productive processes. Design/methodology/approach: Presented in the paper methodology of evaluation of the productive processes is based on analysis of activities in the productive processes and their characteristics with reference to created value in the productive chain. Findings: The paper presents elaborated by the author methodology and computer application for application in the chains of the productive processes. Research limitations/implications: Presented methodology allows to evaluate effectivity of the productive chains connecting aspects of the management and economics of the process. Practical implications: Presented methodology was used in analysis of the productive chains and their effectivity, and also as a benchmarking instrument. Originality/value: The paper presents originally elaborated computer application for the value added analysis in the productive chains.

Purpose: Purpose of this paper is to optimize the design of the manufacturing technology process of large composite plastic products. One of the key problems is how to integrate computer-based product design and planning of the technology process. Design/methodology/approach: In the current study the Neural Network meta-modelling technique has been used. The optimization of the plastic sheet and its strengthening layer thickness has been performed using the surrogate design model. For modeling and structural analysis of derivative products CAE (ANSYS) and CAD (Unigraphics) systems are used. The Finite Element Analysis simulation was performed with optimal thickness values to verify the prediction accuracy of a surrogate model. Findings: The optimization model is proposed to control and analyze the calculated technology planning route, the optimal vacuum forming processes, the technology of post-forming operations, strengthening and assembling operations. The design of the new products is tightly integrated with manufacturing aspects. The product family of the large composite plastic products together with the derivate products and their production technologies is designed using proposed methodology. The optimization of the plastic sheet and its strengthening layer thickness has been performed. Practical implications: The most of the methods described in this study are now under development and industrial testing. Development of manufacturing (operation) plans for a product family is of great practical importance with many significant cost implications. In design of derivative products for the product family, the nonlinear optimization is used and the detailed description of the product is established. The proposed approach is exemplified by the development of a family of products in Wellspa Inc. Originality/value: Value of this paper is that developed optimization model controls and analyzes the calculated technology planning route.

Content available remote Application of value analysis in processes of cog-wheels production

Purpose: The analysis of the processes based on the value analysis allows to evaluate of applied technologies of production. In the paper there is presented the value analysis for chosen processes of cog-wheels production as well as correlation of the functions of the product with the costs of operations creating them. An evaluation of applied technologies of production was done. Design/methodology/approach: Application of the method of value analysis with reference to productive chains including results of cost analysis. Findings: The study presents results of performed value analysis for chosen processes in particular with reference to costs of realized processes of cog-wheels. The analysis was done in the productive processes of the same product in two different technologies. Research limitations/implications: Evaluation of costs of operations of the productive processes. Practical implications: Presented in the paper approach and application of the method of value analysis essentially influences evaluation and increasing of efficiency of realized productive processes. Originality/value: Presented method is based on the methodology by L.D. Miles, L.W. Crum.
