The identification of problematic software testers management areas

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore the condition of managing manual software testers. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis is based on a survey targeting three groups (managers, testers, development team members) that will touch on areas consistent with the management functions. Findings: The condition of testers’ management can be described as good, but there is a probability of improvement for the areas that have been studied. Research limitations/implications: It’s worth carrying out similar research on larger samples to make sure about the obtained averages values and statistical differences between them. It’s also worth proposing methods to improve the possible problematic areas that have been found in this research paper. Practical implications: This paper may draw the attention of managers whose subordinates are software testers that there are areas where they can improve their management. Originality/value This research shows how testers’ management is perceived by managers, how it is perceived by testers and how it is perceived by other members of development teams.

Zapewnienie bezpiecznych i higienicznych warunków pracy ma istotne znaczenie społeczne i ekonomiczne. Programy bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy, realizowane w przedsiębiorstwach, muszą uwzględniać rosnące wymagania prawa krajowego i międzynarodowego, w tym dotyczące ryzyka zawodowego, oraz oczekiwania pracowników i otoczenia. Systemowe podejście do rozwiązywania problemów w tym obszarze działalności przedsiębiorstwa należy uznać za właściwe, gdyż umożliwia ono spojrzenie z punktu widzenia realizacji funkcji zarządzania bezpieczeństwem, a także uwzględnienie roli czynników technicznych, organizacyjnych, psychologicznych i socjologicznych.

To ensure safe and hygienic labour environment conditions is of fundamental social and economic importance. The programmes of safety and hygiene of work realised in enterprises must take account of the growing requirements of home and international law, including those concerning occupational risk, as well as the expectations of employees and environment. A system approach in this area of the enterprise activity should be considered appropriate, since it makes it possible to have a look from the point of view of the accomplishment of safety management function and to make allowance for the role of technological, organisational, psychological, and sociological factors.
