The article presents the issues of managing current assets in trade enterprises on the market of sanitary and heating devices and installations. It is a capital intensive activity and the current assets being receivables are characterized by a high risk level. Distributors finance executing companies, which commonly use trade credit.

Artykuł przedstawia problematykę gospodarowania majątkiem obrotowym w przedsiębiorstwach handlowych na rynku urządzeń i instalacji sanitarno- grzewczych. Jest to działalność kapitałochłonna, aktywa obrotowe będące należnościami charakteryzują się wyższym poziomem ryzyka. Dystrybutorzy finansują firmy wykonawcze, które powszechnie korzystają z kredytu kupieckiego.

Numerous researches shows that many enterprises makes investments with negative NPV. Another surveys indicates that many enterprises have difficulty with current asset management which have a significant influence on value creation process. Both factors makes that many enterprises destroy their value. Therefore this article presents current asset management strategy and their influence on value-based management.

Managing the asset structure consists of determining the mix and type of assets listed on the firm's balance sheet. The term mix refers to the value of current assets to fixed assets. Having decided on the mix, the financial manager will try to maintain optimum levels of each type of current asset. Managing the Firm's asset structure depends on activity ratios. Activity is the indicator of how fast the firm converts its receivables and inventories into cash. The article presents analysis based on assets company Z. This company looks good when compared with industry results.
