Process monitoring and condition monitoring are closely related. The basic structure of the tasks is the same. In some cases the may even use the same set of raw data. Monitoring of a process is also influenced by the machine's state. Therefore, the state has to be monitored also. In most cases wear causes a divergence of the intended from the actual state. The paper presents the principles of monitoring the condition of a main spindle as well as monitoring the process of deep hole drilling.

Machine tools are expected to be highly available. Unintended failure incurs high costs for repairs and through production losses. Maintenance is a major cost factor and is still mostly reactive today, as a result of failures. Maintenance plans by manufacturers that require preventive maintenance based on running hours are often not implemented consistently. It would be ideal to perform condition-dependent preventive maintenance of the most critical and cost-intensive assemblies of a machine tool. This would make it possible to move repair times into non-productive periods and to procure any spare parts at the right time. Eventually, this would lead to cost savings. This article describes the design of a condition monitoring system for machine tools and shows ways of monitoring the most critical machine tool assemblies.

Praca zawiera analizę pracochłonności operacji montażu wrzeciona tokarki CTX 210 z wykorzystaniem chronometrażu i metody MTM. Omówiono istotę, zastosowania oraz zalety i wady tych metod. Przeprowadzono analizę porownawczą pracochłonności operacji montażu wrzeciona tokarki CTX 210 wybranymi metodami, a w końcowej części pracy sformułowano wnioski z wykonanych badań i analiz.

The paper presented below contains an analysis of labour-consumption during an assembly of the main spindle in CTX 210 lathe with the use of chronometric study and MTM method. The nature and applications of both methods, together with their advantages and disadvantages, are discussed. The comparative analysis of labour-consumption during an assembly of the main spindle in CTX 210 lathe was carried out with the employment of the chosen methods. The final part of the paper focuses on drawing conclusions based on the conducted research and analyses.
