The increase of competitiveness of companies is possible through production of goods of higher quality and of tighter tolerances. This is related to higher demands of accuracy of technological machines, which include CMC machine tools. From a certain level of accuracy, it is not enough to use most precise parts in assembly, it is also necessary to assemble them precisely in components and to be able to evaluate the assembly quality. In machine tools, one of main components that influence machining accuracy is the spindle. In this article, presented are procedure and possible utilization of various test methods used to evaluate the spindle work, that influence the machining quality in terms of such assembly errors as accuracy of bearing rotation, back/ash, errors of set rotational speed, accuracy of clamping of tool or workpiece, sources of excessive vibrations and heat induced displacement of tool or workpiece. Capabilities of various spindle test methods are compared as used for diagnostics of assembly errors. Examples are given of CMC machine tools spindle tests and detected assembly errors that are the cause of improper machining.
