The use of reflectance technique of micro-FTIR spectroscopy to the analysis of coal macerals

The infrared analysis was performed on coal macerals (vitrinite, inertinite and liptinite (macrospore)) with the use of reflectance micro- FT IR spectroscopy accomplished in Fourier spectrophotometer joined with infrared microscope. This method makes possible the analysis of macerals without the necessity of their previous separation from coals. For this purpose the polished coal grain mounts were used and prepared according to the standard microscope measurements. Application of Fourier and Kramers-Kronig transformations enabled the acquisition of spectra resembling these obtained by classic transmission method. The semi-quantitative analysis dependent on multiple factors requires the statistical elaboration in the wide range for determination of the optimum and reproducible conditions of measurements.
