Celem niniejszego opracowania jest identyfikacja roli logistyki w kreowaniu przestrzeni publicznej na obszarze zurbanizowanym.

One of the main functions of the city is to provide the residents of the area for recreation, rest and strengthening social ties. Currently, the rapid development of urbanized areas hinders the creation of friendly public spaces. A way to create them can become tools and solutions developed as part of the city's logistics, which, as one of the objectives, welcomes the needs of residents, emphasizing the importance of the city as a social organization. The aim of this study is to identify the role of logistics in creating public space in an urbanized area.

Logistics' decisions taken as a part of the city logistics tend to be rather objective in their nature. Observations of the functioning of cities, however, indicate something completely different — at the basis of these decisions we find ideological premises. The paper is dedicated to this issue.

This article analyses one of city logistics’ key issues. It concerns time and space dimension of cities . The aim of this study is to point out the possibilities of using time-space model in the city logistic. This paper describes daily, weekly, monthly and annual cycles in cities functioning of town and cities. Then there is a presentation of the Hagerstrand’s time-space model. The explains the essence, attributes, meaning and e general characteristic of the time-space model, which can be used for research and practical application in city logistics.

The technology of photovoltaic solar cells can be combined with the technology of electric vehicles. During charging electric vehicles with Renewable Energy Sources (RES) as well as during their use to the atmosphere are not emitted any pollutions. The article presents a carport designed for charging electric vehicle. Paper analyzed the power course generated by the photovoltaic system in different weather conditions. As a result of the comparison with the current demands of the electric vehicle battery during the charging process the optimal way of battery charging process was discussed. Later in the article presents logistics research on charging battery of an urban vehicle used frequently by catering companies to distribute products. The authors’ aim was to determine the actual range of the small electric vehicle on a single charge, as well as to statistically compile driving parameters in conditions of urban traffic in Lublin. The process of using such a vehicle has been analyzed, including the necessary battery charging. On the basis of the tests results a set of recommendations for small electric cars users was made in order to help increase the range of the vehicles in traffic and lengthen battery life.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia projektów w obszarze logistyki miasta, które realizowane są nie tylko w warunkach niepewności, ale także ograniczeń budżetowych. Wskazano, że dążenie do równoważenia nakładów i efektów stwarza konieczność oceny zasadności projektu oraz ryzyka związanego z realizacją przyjętych celów w zakresie czasu, kosztu, zakresu i jakości inwestycji. Jednak brak obowiązku ustawowego oceny ryzyka skłania do poszukiwania takich metod, które nie będą generowały dodatkowych kosztów i dostarczą szybkich wyników, dlatego w artykule zaprezentowano metodę szacunkową oceny ryzyka projektów, bazującą na subiektywnych ocenach ekspertów. Wskazano jej główne zalety i pokazano procedurę jej wykonania.

The article presents the issues of urban logistics projects which are implemented in risk and budget constraints condition’s. The striving for sustainability of inputs and outputs it has been pointed, but it requires assessing the validity of the project and the risks associated with achieving the goals of time, cost, scope, and quality of the investment. The lack of mandatory requirements for risk assessment forces the search for such methods that do not add to the cost and provide fast results. Therefore, the article presents a method of estimating a project risk assessment, which is based on subjective expert assessments. The main advantages were highlighted and its procedure was described.

The article deals with issues of the influence of the sharing economy on contemporary cities. The change of attitude of people to issues of the possession as well as the aspiration for staying in community contributed to the rise of the concept of sharing. In the case of such behaviours a city can be a perfect environment provided appropriate conditions are offered.

Sprawna organizacja dostaw ładunków w miastach jest koniecznym warunkiem poprawy jakości życia i zrównoważonego rozwoju miast. Realizacja opracowanych koncepcji napotyka jednak na liczne problemy. W artykule omówiono przyczyny zmian zachodzących współcześnie w zakresie obsługi dostaw towarów w miastach, w powiązaniu z nowymi potrzebami i wymaganiami klientów. Ponadto, przedstawiono nowe rozwiązania dystrybucji ładunków, z wykorzystaniem logistyki oraz wskazano na przeszkody utrudniające ich wdrożenie.

The efficient organization of urban freight delivery is a prerequisite for improving the quality of life and a sustainable development of the cities. The implementation of elaborated concepts, however, faces numerous problems. The article discusses the changes occurring today in the delivery of goods in cities, in conjunction with the new needs and requirements of customers. Moreover, new solutions of freight logistics problems and the obstacles to their wider implementation are presented.

Coraz więcej mieszkańców przesiada się na rower w poruszaniu się do pracy, co zapewnia im codzienną dawkę ruchu. Autorzy w artykule opisują działania jakie podejmują władze miasta w kierunku promowania poruszania się pieszo lub rowerem przedstawiając kilka obecnie prowadzonych inicjatyw jakie są realizowane na terenie Krakowa. Powyższa praca ma na celu przedstawienie zjawisk jakie ostatnio są przez nas, jako mieszkańców Krakowa zauważane. Widoczne kierunki działań podejmowane przez władze pokazują, że miasto dąży do usprawnienia komunikacji pieszo-rowerowej, co w dłuższej perspektywie przyczyni się do poprawy komfortu życia i jakości zdrowia mieszkańców.

Encourage the society to abandon the automobile communication is a challenge for the majority of metropolises around the world. We can observe a variety of trends in the activities of city authorities, which often provides inspiration to undertake new initiatives. The current promotion of healthy lifestyles and sport also supports the activities for the dissemination of alternative sources of movement. Increasing number of inhabitants changed their means of transport on the bike in moving to work, which provides them a daily dose of motion. The authors in the article describe the actions are taken by the city authorities in the direction to promote walking and cycling by presenting several ongoing initiatives that are implemented in Krakow. This work aims to present the phenomena that recently, by us as inhabitants of Krakow, were noticed. Visible directions of actions taken by the authorities show that the city seeks to improve pedestrian and bicycle transport, which in the long term will contribute to improving the quality of life and quality of residents health.

Rail is the one of the highly underused form of freight transportation in the European Union. Majority of the freightage are distributed by trucks and HGVs. With new regulations and socio-environmental concerns urban logistics is facing a new challenge which can be tackled using innovative transport mechanisms and streamline operations. This article sheds light on a system which integrates freight distribution via metro lines in the closest vicinity of the customer, use of council warehouses and further innovative transport mechanisms for final delivery. This system uses existing infrastructure effectively without impacting its surroundings and triggers the reduction of polluting carriers. This system offers the option of immediate implementation which will enable EU to compete with a global freight distribution market.

O caminho-de-ferro e um dos meios de transporte de mercadorias mais subaproveitado na União Europeia. A maioria da carga transportada é distribuída recorrendo ao transporte rodoviário. A entrada em vigor de novos regulamentos em conjunto com o aumento das preocupações sociais e ambientais, levam a que logística urbana enfrente novos desafios. Desafios estes que podem ser superados através de mecanismos inovadores e ou pela otimização de processos. Este artigo propõe uma nova abordagem através de um sistema que integra o transporte urbano de mercadorias sobre a rede de metropolitano chegando assim mais perto do destino final da carga, propõe ainda a instalação de pequenos centros de distribuição local e formas inovadoras de transporte até ao destino final da mercadoria. Este sistema utiliza a infraestrutura já existente de forma eficiente e sem impactos para a sua vizinhança, contribuindo assim para a redução da poluição causada pelo transporte rodoviário. Este sistema oferece a possibilidade de implementação imediata o que contribuirá para que a União Europeia possa competir num mercado de transporte de mercadorias global.

The main goal of this paper is to analyze customer satisfaction factors for Light Rail, identify a successful case and compare the level of service of this case with another system so that improvements in terms of price, time of journey and connectivity can be elaborated and suggested. The Docklands Light Railway (London, UK) has been identified as a successful case, which service levels have been compared to ‘Metro Sul do Tejo, MST’ (Almada, Portugal). As a result, a set of solutions to improve MST are proposed.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza czynników kształtujących satysfakcję pasażera kolei lekkiej, ukazanie takich rozwiązań, które przyniosły polepszenie satysfakcji i porównanie poziomów usług tych przypadków z innymi systemami, tak by opracować możliwe udoskonalenia w cenach, czasach przejazdów i połączeniach. Tym samym rozwiązania wprowadzone na The Docklands Light Railway (Londyn, Wielka Brytania) zostały porównane z systemem ‘Metro Sul do Tejo, MST’ (Almada, Portugalia), a wnioski z tego porównania posłużyły jako możliwe propozycje dla polepszenia usług MST.

The city, which builds its competitive advantage by deliberately strengthening the communication functions of the cities space, in order to increase the number of interpersonal interaction, has the potential to become a global city. Jedną z zasadniczych barier stosowania logistyki w zarządzaniu miastem są trudności przy ilościowym pomiarze i jakościowej ocenie poziomu spójności systemu logistyki miejskiej. W artykule przyjęto, że system logistyki miejskiej to celowo zorganizowany zbiór elementów, takich jak: jego interesariusze, infrastruktura, normy regulacyjne i system taryfowy oraz związki między nimi, które są zaangażowane w przepływy osób, ładunków oraz towarzyszących im informacji na obszarach zurbanizowanych. W odniesieniu do tak zdefiniowanych elementów systemu zaproponowano zestaw wskaźników i mierników do monitorowania i oceny poziomu spójności logistyki miejskiej w jej płaszczyźnie społeczno- ekonomicznej, technicznej, informacyjnej, finansowej i przestrzennej.

One of the main barriers of logistics concept implementation in the practice of city management is the lack of consensus related to the quantitative measuring as well as qualitative evaluation of the city logistics system's connectivity. The city logistics system can be understood as a deliberately organized set of elements, such as: stakeholders, infrastructure, regulatory standards and tariffs as well as relationships between them, which are involved in the process of flows of people, cargo and relevant information within urban areas. In the last part of the paper the list of measures and indicators for connectivity of city logistics systems measurement and evaluation has been proposed.

Autorzy, poszukując inspiracji w dorobku dyscyplin dalekich nauce o zarządzaniu (jednak pozwalających na lepsze zrozumienie natury zachowań społecznych) proponują szereg przykładowych instrumentów w odniesieniu do poszczególnych funkcji municypalnych. Omówiony został także schemat postępowania prowadzącego do wyboru właściwego instrumentu kształtowania zachowań użytkowników miasta. Głównym przesłaniem artykułu jest zachęcenie przedstawicieli różnorodnych dziedzin do zainteresowania problematyką logistyki miejskiej i współtworzenia skutecznego instrumentarium kształtowania zachowań z jej zakresu pro publico bono.

Specificity of city logistics domain, which is mainly a consequence of its prominently social character, inclines towards searching for new methods of achieving its goals, unknown to classical business logistics. Authors, while looking for inspiration in miscellaneous disciplines far from management (but allowing to better understand nature of social behaviours), suggest range of exemplary behaviuor affecting instruments with reference to municipal functions. Also a scheme of procedure leading to choice of a proper instrument has been discussed. The main purpose of the article is to encourage representatives of different scientific disciplines to pay attention to problems of city logistics and to take a part in creating a proper set of city users behaviour affecting instruments.
