Logistyczny system technologiczny huty surowcowej stali jest niezwykle trudny do analizy. Poprzez swoją wielowariantowość wykonanie modelu komputerowego jest niezwykle skomplikowane. Uwzględnić bowiem należy nie tylko ścieżki technologiczne, które pokonuje dany typ materiału, ale też zaburzenia spowodowane planowanymi konserwacjami poszczególnych urządzeń biorących udział w procesie technologicznym czy transportowym. Dodatkowym utrudnieniem jest mnogość asortymentów produkowanych gatunków stali, a każdy z etapów obróbki stali charakteryzuje się różnymi czasami potrzebnymi na wykonanie danej operacji, ale też wielkość wlewków otrzymywanych w końcowym etapie produkcji. Kolejnym utrudnieniem jest to, że różne gatunki stali wymagają różnych operacji technologicznych.

The logistics process system in a steel mill is exceptionally difficult to analyse. Its divergent character and multi-variant structure make creating a computer model a very complex task. This is because it is not only the process paths of a given material type which should be considered, but also the disturbances resulting from the scheduled maintenance of individual machines involved in the technology or handling process. Another matter which must be taken into account is the multitude of steel grades produced, along with the fact that each steel processing stage is a specific operation involving a specific, and different, period of time, which is further influenced by the size of ingots to be obtained in the final production stage. Furthermore, various grades of steel require various process operations. The preparation and testing of a computer model for proper operation is therefore a highly time-consuming task.
