Impact of logistics information systems on supply chain optimization: Case of Group Bachir Rachid

Purpose: This paper aims to check the contribution of Logistics Information Systems - LIS to supply chain optimization in the steel industry group of Bachir Rachid. This group that owns eight independent companies and numerous points of sale and warehouses, has to be connected by such advanced systems to ensure effectiveness and profitability. Methodology: A questionnaire was distributed among a group of employees, and the collected data was later analyzed by SPSS 25 and complemented by further structured and unstructured interviews. We have realized an analysis of variance to evaluate the impact of LIS on logistics activities, supply chain management, and integration as well as optimization. The test of Kruskal-Wallis H was chosen due to the non-linearity of the data. Results: This work proves that Logistics Information Systems contribute to the performance of logistics activities, supply chain integration, and supply chain optimization through the enhancement of the efficiency of supply chain management and by the reduction of supply chain costs. The theoretical contribution: The contribution made to the theory of logistics and supply chain management lies in confirming previous findings on the contribution of LIS to logistics and supply chain optimization in Algeria, and more specifically, in the steel industry.

W artykule podjęto problem analizy dostępnych technik semantycznych wspomagających dobór systemów informatycznych logistyki. W szczególności zidentyfikowano problemy związane z procesem pozyskiwania informacji na temat systemów informatycznych logistyki oraz zaprezentowano i scharakteryzowano wybrane techniki semantyczne. W następstwie umożliwiło to budowę przykładowego modelu rozwiązania opartego na ontologii dziedzinowej wspomagającej dobór systemu informatycznego logistyki dla klasy WMS. Całość kończą wnioski z przeprowadzonych badań.

This article presents the problem of analysis available semantic techniques supporting logistics information systems selection. The problems of information retrieval process of logistics information systems and components were introduced. Next, the selected semantic techniques were proposed and characterized as well. Further the domain-ontology model for logistics information systems of WMS class was presented. The conclusions finish the article.

Przepływ informacji we współczesnej, dynamicznie rozwijającej się gospodarce globalnej jest jednym z trwałych fundamentów jej rozwoju. Informacja, jej właściwe wykorzystanie jest podstawą właściwie realizowanych działań logistycznych. Informacyjne systemy logistyczne spełniają współcześnie niezwykle istotną rolę. Są przedmiotem wielu rozważań i stale doskonalone. Wymiana informacji miedzy dostawcą i odbiorcą zapewnia, bowiem korzyści obu stronom oraz daje jednocześnie perspektywę rozwoju dalszych, właściwych relacji partnerskich. W wielu przypadkach okazuje się, że informacja uzyskana we właściwej formie, gwarantuje pozyskanie oszczędności stanowiących znaczny procent kosztów, a w przypadku lepszej obsługi produkcji lub dystrybucji zapewnia dodatkowo istotny przyrost sprzedaży. Prowadzone rozważania wskazują, iż realizowane procesy technologiczne w logistycznej obsłudze rynków gospodarczych są bardzo często odzwierciedleniem funkcjonującego w danym przedsiębiorstwie systemu informatycznego. Przekłada się to również na pozom obsługi klienta. Jak wykazuję doświadczenia i opinie wielu ekspertów, właściwe zorganizowanie przepływu informacji w sieci jest bez wątpienia jednym z kluczowych elementów osiągnięcia przez firmy i przedsiębiorstwa pozycji lidera na światowym rynku gospodarczym.

Information flow in the frame of modern, dynamic and developing global economy has been one of the solid foundations, facilitating its continuous progress. Information and its proper utilization are principles of adequate realization of all logistics activities. At present logistics information systems are fulfilling very important role. As such, the systems are a matter of constant research and improvement. Information exchange between the provider and customer is beneficial for both of them and is facilitating profitable perspective of continuity among business partners. In many cases if information is properly and timely obtained, it is a guaranty of savings, being an important part of total costs. It is enabling better production handling and smooth distribution, which is supporting increase of entire sales. The researches are indicating that all the logistics processes in the frame of logistical coverage of economy markets are rather often visualizing an information system, which is functioning in a company. It is strictly connected with the quality of consumer-oriented services. Experiences and experts’ opinions are confirming that properly organized flow of information in a net is one of key elements of a company’s success and achieving the leader’s position on a market.
