Purpose: The main goal of article focuses on identification the main research directions for transferring the function of centralised demand forecasting to 3PL enterprise. To meet this goal the concepts connected with central demand forecasting in distribution network was considered and it was taking into account the meaning of demand management and forecasting in logistics. There were also distinguished the main stages which could include the attributes of central forecasting enterprise. Design/methodology/approach: Paper includes literature analysis connected with centralised forecasting and specification of determinants which could be the main reference point in finding the enterprise able to get the function of centralised forecasting. Findings: According to literature review determinants of distribution network configuration in the centralised forecasting is showed and also there is showed a possibility of transfer the function of centralised forecasting to logistic operator. Originality/value Paper shows determinants of distribution network configuration in the conditions of centralised forecasting and takes into account possibility of transfer this function to logistic operator.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyze material flow from the perspective of a logistics operator operating in a distribution network at Material Decoupling Point (MDP). This analysis will focus on classifying the flowing products into the appropriate groups in terms of their sales characteristics, release volume and the value of the coefficient of variation. This analysis will also involve product classification in terms of forecast accuracy. Design/methodology/approach: Main method used for the research focuses on analyzing one of distribution network. Analyze considered examination of material flow and tests of forecast tool to improve operational issues. Findings: Logistics operator is able to forecasting demand of products in distribution network. It is interesting area of research developing in the future. Originality/value Forecasting is considered here as a kind of development perspective for the operator who currently does not make forecasts. Forecasting implementation could be in these case

W artykule scharakteryzowano operatorów logistycznych, którzy świadczą różnorodne usługi. Zwrócono uwagę na prawidłowe przygotowanie procedury ocenowej, w szczególności uwzgledniającej identyfikację kryteriów oceny oraz dobór metod. Umożliwi to wówczas klientom podjąć właściwe decyzje dotyczące zlecania usług sprawdzonym operatorom. Wskazano, że szczególnie przydatne do oceny firm logistycznych są wielokryterialne analizy porównawcze, gdyż pozwalają badać obiekty w sposób całościowy z uwzględnieniem różnych aspektów działalności takich podmiotów. Do praktycznej realizacji oceny operatorów logistycznych zaproponowano metodę taksonomii numerycznej wraz z wybranymi etapami metody AHP.

The article characterizes logistic operators which provide various services. Attention was paid to the appropriate preparation of the evaluation procedure, in particular considering the identification of assessment criteria and the selection of methods. This will enable customers to make the right decisions to outsource services to reliable operators. It was pointed out that multicriterial comparative analyzes are particularly useful for the assessment of logistic companies, because they allow to study objects in a holistic way, taking into account various aspects of the activities of such entities. The method of numeric taxonomy with selected stages of the AHP method was proposed for the practical implementation of the assessment of logistic operators.

Opisano także bariery stojące na drodze do harmonijnego funkcjonowania wszystkich procesów wchodzących w skład działań podejmowanych przez operatorów logistycznych.

The article presents the conditions for the functioning of the Belarusian logistics centers. Particular attention was paid to the issues for discussion concerning the location of many objects of this type. Also describes the barriers standing in the way of harmonious functioning of all the processes included in the measures taken by logistics operators.

The aim of the article is to present and analyze major groups of factors that are considered by companies when selecting a logistic operator, and to demonstrate how a given factor influences the quality of performed tasks. It systemises factors and analyses more closely those which are currently of biggest importance in the process of time and costs optimization in logistic processes from the point of view of both a logistic operator and a customer. It shows also some solutions which may be helpful when selecting external Contractor for services.

Operatorzy logistyczni stanowią na rynku TSL silną grupę podmiotów świadczących szeroki zakres usług logistycznych, skierowanych na obsługę logistyczną różnych branż (na przykład motoryzacyjna, spożywcza, FMCG itp.). Dotychczasowa działalność usługowa nie daje jednak tym podmiotom możliwości wyróżnienia się i zajęcia wysokiej pozycji konkurencyjnej. Operatorzy logistyczni ciągle poszukują nowych elementów umożliwiających wyróżnienie się wśród licznej grupy oferentów świadczących usługi logistyczne. W artykule przedstawiono możliwości poszukiwania przez operatów logistycznych nowych ścieżek rozwoju poprzez świadczenie usług logistycznych w nowym pozabiznesowym obszarze jakim może być logistyka społeczna.

The logistics services providers operating an polish market are the strong group which provides wide range of logistics services, focused on different sectors. The activity in services area doesn't them the competitive advantage. The competition among TSL provides is still going. That is the reason why TSL are still searching for effective strategy. In the paper the assumption was made, that using new strategy focused on social logistics can be a source of competitive advantage.

Przedstawiono badania mające na celu identyfikacje zakresu wiedzy niezbędnej na stanowiskach operacyjnych u operatorów logistycznych. Ponadto zaprezentowano model, który pozwoli na dostosowanie programów dydaktycznych uwzględniających strukturę podmiotów zgłaszających zapotrzebowanie na różne kompetencje logistyków.

The paper explores the subject of the development of competences, particularly knowledge, in didactic institutions. It also considers the context of the market and the principles included in strategic documents. The paper presents research aimed at the identification of knowledge necessary for logistic operators. Also, a model is presented which will help adjust didactic programs to the logistic competences claimed and needed by different employers.

Outsourcing zrewolucjonizował sposób, w jaki przedsiębiorstwa wykonują swoje funkcje biznesowe. O znaczeniu outsourcingu świadczą przede wszystkim wyniki licznych badań prowadzonych pod koniec lat 90 XX wieku. Wynika z nich,że 94% badanych przedsiębiorstw wydzieliło w tamtym okresie co najmniej jedną działalność, a średnia liczba wydzieleń wynosiła dziewięć. Tendencje do delegowania na zewnątrz czynności i zasobów spoza głównego nurtu działalności przedsiębiorstwa są widoczne w szczególności w sferze logistyki, ponieważ coraz większą część wartości dodanej produktu stanowią procesy logistyczne realizowane przez operatorów zewnętrznych, nawet wewnątrz zakładu producenta. Podjęcie decyzji - czy kupować na rynku (w tym przypadku usługi logistyczne lub ich składniki), czy też zdecydować się na integrację pionową (w tym przypadku utrzymywać własny system logistyczny lub jego część) - zależy od cech ekonomicznych procesu produkcji w danym rodzaju działalności oraz od natury jej kosztów transakcyjnych.

Outsourcing had revolutionized the way companies run their business functions. The importance of outsourcing is represented mainly by the results of numerous studies conducted in the late nineties at the XXth century. Reaserches show that 94% of the surveyed companies allocated at that time, at least one activity, and the average number of allocations was nine. Trends to delegate the non-mainstream activities and resources of the company outside are evident in particular field of logistics, since an increasing proportion of value-added products are the logistics processes carried out by external operators, even within the manufacturer's facility. Making the decision - whether to buy on the market (in this case, logistic services, or their components), or opt for vertical integration (in this case to maintain its own logistics system or part thereof) - it depends on the economic characteristics of the production process in a given activity and the nature of transaction costs.

W zasadzie żadne przedsiębiorstwo nie jest w stanie samodzielnie realizować zadań występujących w całym łańcuchu dostaw, szczególnie biorąc pod uwagę wzrost kompleksowości procesów wynikających z postępującej globalizacji. Trendy zmierzające do ograniczenia kompleksowości procesów, poprzez stosowanie takich metod jak np. sourcing czy outsourcing, oznaczają w konsekwencji konieczność dokonywania wyboru dostawców/partnerów i konieczność podejmowania bliskiej, opartej na partnerstwie, współpracy z dostawcami, z podmiotami świadczącymi usługi logistyczne, realizującymi sprzedaż, dystrybucję, a także z odbiorcami i klientami. Umiejętność zbudowania stosunków partnerskich w łańcuchu dostaw jest jednym z poważniejszych wyzwań koniecznych dla osiągnięcia w przyszłości pozycji, pozwalającej podjąć walkę konkurencyjną na rynku.

In fact, no company is able to perform alone the tasks that occur throughout the supply chain, especially taking into concideration the increasing complexity resulting from the ongoing processes of globalization. Trends to reduce the complexity of the processes through the use of methods such as sourcing or outsourcing, means in consequence the need for making a selection of suppliers / partners and the need to take a close, based on partnership, cooperation with suppliers, providers of logistics services, operating the sale, distribution as well as with customers and clients. Ability to build partnerships in the supply chain is one of the major challenges are needed to gain the position in the future, enabling to fight competitive.

Understanding organisational risks makes possible to control them and to change them into organisational strengths. Being known as "measure of uncertainty" in the business process, the risk is the uncertainty of achieving the organizational objectives. It may involve positive or negative consequences. There is a level of uncertainty in every supply chain while operating transportation and warehousing, positioning on the market, developing customer support, reducing cycle times or cutting costs. Therefore, the risk assessment should be one of the main tasks for any supply chain management team. It is required to develop formal risk assessment procedures, to identify the potential impacts to the supply chain operations and to develop a set of contingency plans to mitigate risks. This paper deals with supply chain risk assessment methodology, outlining the present risk management status of Croatian logistic operators.
