W pracy zaproponowano dwie metody lokalizacji punktów pomiaru ciśnienia w sieciach wodociągowych. Metoda pierwsza koncentruje się na wykrywaniu niepożądanych zmian (wzrostów lub spadków) ciśnienia. Metoda druga ma na celu wykrywanie wycieków wody z sieci. Zastosowanie obu metod do planowania monitoringu w rzeczywistej sieci wodociągowej przyniosło znaczące różnice lokalizacji punktów pomiaru ciśnienia. To pokazuje, iż dokładność lokalizacji punktów pomiarowych zależy od celu monitorowania sieci wodociągowej.

The paper proposes two methods of pressure measurement points location in water distribution networks. The first method focuses on the detection of undesirable changes (increases or decreases) pressure. The second method is to detect leakage of water from the network. The use of both methods for planning of monitoring system in the real water supply network resulted in significant differences in location of pressure points. This shows that the accuracy of location measurement points depends on the aim of monitoring of water supply system.

This paper presents a dilemma of measurement points location within monitoring systems of pressure, flow and water quality in water supply systems. The authors describe actual legal status of water supply monitoring systems and points out its various aspects. The main attention was drawn on methods of measurement points location in water supply systems. It was indicated based on literature review that this issue is still unsolved. Actual methods, though mathematically and numerically advanced are still insufficient.
