W pracy omówiono powszechnie stosowaną definicję liniowej intensywności zużywania. Zwrócono uwagę na to, że odniesienie ubytku linowego ciała do drogi tarcia wymaga uwzględnienia podziału tej drogi między elementami pary tarciowej. Konieczność ta wynika z zasady zachowania energii. Podano zasadę tego podziału i wprowadzono ją do definicji liniowej intensywności zużywania. Opracowano nowy sposób jej wyznaczania i nową jej interpretację jako wielkości systemowej.

In this thesis, the generally used definition of linear intensity of wear is presented. It is indicted that the reference of the means of linear object loss to friction needs the consideration of a means of division by the elements of the friction pair. This necessity is caused by the law of the conservation of energy. A rule of this division is provided and inserted into the definition of the linear intensity of wear. A new means of calculating it and its new interpretation as a system value was prepared. In this, the consideration mass wear of the tribology system and its separate elements and surface cover and friction mechanism were considered. On the selected example of tribology research, differences in the evaluations of the analysing measure of wear are illustrated and conclusions are formulated.
