Poland is naturally predisposed to become an important platform of the European logistic system. In this context intermodal/ combined transport is expected to gain importance as a way to ensure sustainable and balanced development. The main railway lines of the AGTC agreement and transhipment facilities located on these routes make up the basic network of intermodal transport. The article shows how intermodal terminal services have developed in Poland and what their prospects are. The authors define barriers for development of combined transport and draw conclusions addressed to terminal operators, railway companies and authorities.
