Podstawowym zagadnieniem bezpiecznej eksploatacji wózków napędzanych podnośnikowych jest stateczność przy różnych stanach eksploatacyjnych. Zagadnienie stateczności zostało ujęte w normach - i jest jednolite na terenie Unii Europejskiej. Badania dotyczą symulacji określonych stanów dynamicznych w warunkach pomiaru statycznego na płycie wychylnej. Szereg badań przeprowadzonych w IMBiGS wykazał, że istotny wpływ na stateczność mają elementy podatne maszyn, w tym głównie ogumienie, aczkolwiek niebagatelny jest również wpływ rodzaju masztu oraz osprzętu dodatkowego.

The issue of forklifts' stability has been included in biding standards on the territory of the European Union. The standards treat the forklift as a whole rather than imposing the need of defining the impact of particular components on the stability. The object of the study was the impact of various superelastic tires on the stability. The test method involved using a diagnostic swing board and bringing the forklift to the border of stability (standard setting towards the board). The tests involved one base machine with exchanged tires. The results obtained for different types of superelastic tires showed that the issue of stability of the forklifts should be approached with extreme caution. The exchange of tires by the user may change the limits of stability thresholds.
